You will only solo between 70 and 80 if you want, the amount of small group dungeons, full group dungeons, raids and group quests is huge and the amount of players up to do them is also big.

Im not sure what you mean by empty, some servers are even too crowded these days.

The souless part is just a matter of opinion, my self, I find the vast and complex lore and the way the lore is expressed in EQ2 a pure example of a game with a deep "soul".

To tell the truth, some details make Everquest2 the less souless MMO in the market, but again this may be a matter of opinion...

EQ2 AA system is great if you compare to character development with any other MMO, especially the Necro tree, this is one of the reasons Necro in EQ2 is so popular.
Give Vanguard a try.   It is the new EQ1.   Its beautiful and has great classes.  The bard in VG can write his own songs.  This means he can "compose" his own spells.  Its brilliant.   He can even write the descriptions of these songs for his groupmates to read when they check their buff bar.    Out of all these new MMO's, VG is the one I will always go back too.   That being said I have quit it a few times.
This is a huge exageration, you only combine buffs , you dont exacly write your spells from scratch.
Vanguard has some good and unique classes, but class development in Vanguard still is a bit simple, most of characters are the same, Everquest 2 class development is much, much more detailed, even WoW and AoC classes have a more detailed personal development than Vanguard´s classes.
Everquest 2 has more than 20 x times more content (content that work), it is by far a deeper game and it is without a doubt more polished, but Vanguard has some unique features like some classes, the way the weather works and the huge open map, the major issue is the development of Vanguard is slow and sometimes too amateur if you compare to Everquest 2.
Unfortunally even the character expression and animation in Vanguard still very limited and amateur if you compare with Everquest 2´s motion capture animations, complex facial animations, voice overs etc.

Vanguard is adding an AA system along with a new lvl 55 cap.  The AA system in vanguard is being done in the same way as eq1 which in my opinion was better then eq2.  But it remains to be seen what it looks like.

Vanguard still has the most unique classes and best combat system in any MMO so far.

Because it is so damn hard to level in EQ2.. /sarcasm

Well I still think EQ2 is one of the better games on the market and it is HUGE with several areas to explore and xp on every level. There are always at least one dungeon where you can get a PUG on every level, Stormhold, CoV, Runnyeye and so on. Player housing, appearance slots for armor and clothes, free updates every 3 months.

EQ 2 is still very fun, you may have to be proactive when choosing a guild though as it is a grouping game still but if you find one or 2 friends to group with you have a lot of possibilities. Me and my wife played Mystic and Zerker and duoued everywhere and usually managed to pick up one or 2 more where ever we where. I highly recommend it but avoid AB as that server is overloaded with people and the server lag will annoy you to no end,

Sigtyr lev 75 Mystic of Secret Keepers AB server

Lozz 71 Dirge of the Renegades AB server

just subscribe -- no need to buy the anything further
Trial comes with complimentary copy of "all-in-one" kunark when you subscribe

even if you recently didnt do the trial,  may already own Kunark anyhow

TSO expansion is really only for grouping at level 75+ anyhow

Just wanted to clear some things...

If I download the trial and at the end of my trial time I convert to a paid member I get the whole game?

In WOW after I completed my trial I had to buy the whole game...

    thats correct

    if you become a subscriber,

you are given "all-in-one" Kunark for free

    everquest2.station.sony.com/freeTrial.vm

Keep the Game Free of Charge

Receive a complimentary digital copy of the game when you convert your trial account to a paid monthly subscription of EQII. The Rise of Kunark starter pack includes four (4) expansion packs and three (3) adventure packs.

if you buy Kunark from Steam

    store.steampowered.com/app/24110/

it is a similar bargain, because even tho you pay $20.00

you will get the 1st month free with your steam purchase

I have a couple of questions. I have used my trial already and think I will just buy the game as I do not want to lose my station name( had it like 10years now hehe) just do not know what will be the cheapest way to get my hands on the game, can I just resubcribe to eq2 even tho I have never bought the game or will I have to buy  the new  all in one The Shadow Odessy game from a  shop ?

    any  help would be great

If you have done the trial you should be able to just resubbing. But see if you can do the trial again first.

You should also try the Vanguard trial BTW, it is actually closer to EQ than EQ2. Both are good games now even though both sucked badly at launch.

ABSOLUTE HORSESHIT. One persone mentoring you will give 3 times the xp boost of the silly potions that you can buy, and in a case with a guild like mine where we help eachother out a lot you have up to 5 people mentoring you with each of there xp boosts stacking, Also when you have a toon at lvl 80 you get an xp bonus on all other toons, and this stacks with people mentoring you as well, there is no NEED to use the xp potions if you dont want to to compete with other players, Thwe potions and the fluff crap in station cash is to help support and develop the game by generating a little income, because lets face it the ecnomy is crap, people are losing there lives due to job losses and less people are playing mmo's devestating the revenue that would come normally otherwise w/o an item shop. NONE OF THE ITEMS IN STATION CASH SHOP EFFECT THE GAMEPLAY, OR THE STORYARCS, NONE OF THE ITEMS IN STATION CASH HELP RAID, OR KILL STUFF, THERE ARE NO WEAPONS, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

    playing eq2 and two worlds

I have been making this same argument since the item mall went live. Expect the SOE "haters" to explain to you how wrong and even unethical you are for saying this. They will also go on about the greed of SOE/Sony. Sony posted a 3 billion dollar loss last year. Yet some think they have plenty of money for EQ2 and the game is some sort of massive cash cow. Be prepared, the economy is going to get a lot worst. Over then next year you will see many mmos turning their lights out.
