I know so many of us love DAOC and would love to play it again. However most of these people I'm sure are turned off at the low populations. Well that has changed recently.

This week's prime time populations:

Normal cluster: - 1800+

Classic cluster - 800+

Coop Cluster - 200+

Yes some of these could be better, and they hopefully will be. However, The population has doubled in the last few months and is recently climbing higher everday. What would it take to get you to resub for a month? If you play the normal cluster populations are higher then most old school numbers right now. I'm downloading the game now, and will be back in tonight

I saw a thread on the VN boards saying "if 200 other people agree, I'll resub with them". Alright I'm sure this community has about 10,000 old DAOC vets or more wishing their game wasn't dead.

 

Well lets pick a number... if 200 people agree here to resub would you join up?

 Maybe if every single one of them went to the Classic Cluster.

I cancelled the game when only 20K people were online, because it felt too empty. I hardly think 3K users excites me.

 

Besides that the game has horrible CC, and the movement is archaic. My toon in EQ moves more fluidly, than DAOC's toons.

Not only turned off by the low playerbase but a few other points as well.

 

1. Still charge max subscription fee even though the game is ancient. There is no reason for this since they have downgraded manpower and server power making it costs so much less to run and maintain.

2. It's practically impossible to find groups unless you are in your 40+. The game is completely dominated by highlevel people who already have maxed characters of all the classes they wish to play. Yes the game is very lonely on your way to the top this is undeniable.

3. A lot of the battlegrounds are completely deserted in certain brackets. This is because of the game being completely dominated by highlevel players and because of the low playerbase.

 

 

It is an awesome game there is no denying that. The faults it has now has nothing to do with the game itself but from it being old and abandoned. Because it is an awesome game you will always run into a few posts like these trying to up the playerbase. Nothing wrong in that, i just don't see it ever happening

Welcome to clusters.  Chances are your server has a higher population now then it did when the whole subscriber base was higher. Who cares if the global number is lower, as long as the server you play on is jam packed with players.

I'd play it if I had a group of people to level with.

 

I enjoy group grinding a lot...but for the little bit of time I tried DAoC...I couldn't find people to grind with.

Doesn't really help since nobody plays on the lower levels. Groups are still impossible to find while levelling up. Boot up a trial account and visit low-mid levelling grounds and see how empty they are. It doesn't exactly motivate a new player to start playing
