Just got my copy of the pay-to-play beta. In fact, I ended up with two copies, because I had two accounts up just to make sure I didn't get shafted for the fifth time. And, since I'm now finally a paying customer, fuck you and your customer service, Aventurine. After the beta test, I pre-ordered on the 19th, after 7 hours of refreshing. Thanks for that, by the way, making the least secure link in the world and posting it up on the beta forums. Say it's our fault for leaking it if you like, you knew that was going to happen. A week later, you tell me the pre-order failed. You know, on launch day. Nice one. But, hey, what am I to expect, not everything can go right. Right?

Damn fucking right. Because not only did you accuse pre-order customers of entering incorrect information (and perpetuate the idea among the community that we were just too incompetent to even type our credit card details), you also failed to bill me again on the 26th. My credit card company never even saw a transaction from you. So, okay, I've lost two days from launch. No biggie. Really, I didn't mind. I sent some e-mails, I sent a support request, I figured "Hey, it's alright, they respect the "competitive nature of the game", they'll sort this shit out right away.

Hahaha, boy was I wrong. Forums come back up, there's a "consolidate your account issues here!" thread. Great, no responses to my support e-mails, maybe they're just swamped and they need to get all the issues in one place.

That thread is now up to 850 replies, with no official response, no announcements, and no issues resolved. Good job of herding us all into one place to keep us from clogging up the front page with even more whining, though. I appreciate being duped almost as much as I appreciate being ignored.

Days pass, no announcements, all of a sudden... New orders. And this is where it became really insulting. Not even because I felt I deserved a head-start over the regular customers, by this point I just wanted to play. No, because you knew there were still rampant billing issues and that your site couldn't support anywhere near the kind of user traffic you were going to see. You volunteered customers for the "Transaction Failed" chopper, without making any visible effort to resolve existing issues.

Better still, when I burned my refresh key down to a smouldering nub on the 3rd, made it through the grind that is the ordering system with countless time-outs and "service is not available" (nice touch!)... I was informed that my order had failed again. Not only that, but it had failed twice. That's without mentioning the regular customers who encountered the same issue, the pre-order customers who never even saw a buy button, the poor fucks who can't log in, and, even worse, the guys who already got charged and can't play.

Turns out my account was bugged. "Contact your credit institution", fuck you, it was nothing to do with my card or my inability to use an AutoFill. Your system was simply incapable of billing my account. But hey, thanks for "working to identify the issue" and not telling me that I had to make a new one. That's great. So I made two new accounts (since I have two computers), and on the 4th... I failed to make it through orders. As, I am sure, did thousands more. Having the "continue to order" button being completely broken might not be the best way to help people buy.

But hey, I'm in now. Good thing I liked beta so much, because nothing's changed. I won't complain about the game, partly because one thread doesn't have the kind of space that requires, but also because I genuinely think you've done a good job. For a beta, for an independent company, and most importantly for now, but a good job.

But really, with the amount of lies (Yeah, lies, not miscommunication or whatever other excuse their is these days for bare-facedly misinforming your consumer base to the very last. Need an example? "The only feature we haven’t had time to implement is the Mahirim 4 legged run." That's so horribly untrue you can't justify it. There are still buttons that say "DO NOT TOUCH THAT AGAIN!" for fuck's sake) with the amount of lies, the total lack of communication and a billing system so bad that it took me two weeks to give you my fucking money, how far can you be trusted to really develop the potential of this game?

What I particularly enjoyed, though, was finishing my 'Darkfall Victory Dance', logging in and not even being able to use my name. My name that I've used so much in the past 8 years that I recognize it more than my real one, Hellmoob, CONTAINS FORBIDDEN WORDS. Oh, okay, sure, so "Moob = Manboob = Offensive", sure I can understand that. Even WoW allows it, but I understand.

No, it was "Hell" that was the forbidden word. You can't have "Hell" in your name. I mean, really, what the fuck is this? I know that compared to the nightmarish shit I endured to buy the game it's small potatoes, but I can't have my name because it has Hell in it? Fucking joke. Just glad I didn't have to delete mine like dozens of other people and lose my name altogether.

In short, since this thread or even 10 pages of threads lack the space to adequately surmise all of your failings, I will say this. You are going to lose an enormous quantity of customers like this. Were it not for my awesome clan, and my beta tester status meaning that I've seen Darkfall in action, I would have given up and mailed you a bag of burning dogshit about 4 days ago. Unless you take up a policy of being honest, open and yes, polite and reasonable with your customers and potential customers, you're really fucked. People are leaving in droves already.

Maybe you should address people's billing and account issues, maybe you should get a billing site that isn't run through an IBM 286 in a deserted bus shelter, maybe you should hold your hands up and admit that there are dozens of missing features, bugs and functional hacks. Maybe you should provide patch notes once in a while. The suggestions are endless, the community is full of them, and all you're doing anymore is pissing people off. 6/7000 substriptions isn't going to be paying for your food, let alone your continued development. Sort shit out, or Darkfall is going to be another "great idea with so much potential" that belly-flopped because of horrible management.

And finally, to the pre-order customers: Waste no opportunity to express your outrage and disgust. Create a new account if they're still fucking you around, and if they already have your cash, demand it back. Most of all, don't believe a fucking word they say, because Aventurine isn't going to do shit for you until they absolutely need to. The past week has proven that.
