I would feel sorry for the sub base. but if they haven't learned and quit by now the majority of them never will. It's like watching some third world country starve and beat it's people.

How sad is it that the only entertainment produced by Sony Online Entertainment can be found by the folks who don't pay them any money.  The entertainment derived from their constant hostility towards their customers is far greater than anything their employees are capable of producing for their commercial products.  Too bad for Sony that the entertainment SOE actually produces has no commercial value.

Well gotta hand it to Smed hes always good for making a quick buck.   SOE's main problem is they are short sighted.   You can see that they only had a few Devs that could see past next month, and in the last 2 years they mostly all left SOE.    The TCG makes me mad, but the lack of content has been the real downfall of SWG.

They wasted money and time in chasing a holy WOW grail, which has caused the game and company to really fall into bad times.   Most of thier Devs are gone, they run on skeleton crews for most of their games.   Even EQ2 has recently gone through server merging, and is subject to the same TCG card game, think its called legends of norath.    Plus now they are being sold items from SOE.

I've never seen a more pathetic group of people in my life. They get bitch slapped with the TCG loot and Friday feature and now are kissing SOE's ass in the Producer note.

The crafters just keep getting the shaft. Why would anyone let themselves be so duped into buying loot cards? They are really exploiting the fanbase here. This is a real shame. This game has made Jar Jar look like a rock star. Everytime they take 3 steps forward for the players, the players get sent back 4 more. I hate Star Wars because of this game.  If you buy loot cards you are an idiot.

Just how low can soe  keep going, its own goal after own goal,  surely people understand that the tcg is nothing but a fleece of there few remaining customers, funny how they can bang out items that effect game play, yet they cannot produce any content for the game or do much needed work on the broken game bugs, proffesions, lag, i could rattle of lots more no point though.

Yup this was one of the reasons I left the Veteran Trial because all the new best items were TCG only and you couldn't achieve them in the game. It's like crafters are constantly getting the shaft with these new items and it is ruining the game. Soon they'll release new armour and weapons in TCG too.

Fucking whats sad though is lots of people are buying them to get these new items and SOE are making tons of money on it. Then the same people are bitching about having to pay for the items and not getting them in the game......... like don't pay and SOE will stop doing it then.

It's like how about some content for the game? How about fixing it? No SOE wants to carry on ruining the game and telling us they learnt form their mistakes.

All the items are kool but wouldn't it be so much better to give them to crafters in a way like Jetpacks were put in with SWB.

Yep, why craft if you can get it elsewhere? Although the loot cards can be pretty expensive, because they come as "rares"(?) in a booster pack. So you need to buy a pack for x dollars and you might or might not get a loot card for ingame....

or you can trade them for like 200 million credits on the forum.....

or, you can get some nice stuff as reward - for example the latest demolishing event could give you a nice desk, chair, rug and other things which are not craftable.

Considering SOE i could  almost accept the concept of micro-transactions instead. But paying a sub, undermining your own system and selling loot cards (expensively.. you might need to get 100 booster cards before you get what you want, or 1, you never know) - that just sucks.

What I find sad about all of this is that only now do people realise they're being given the shaft.

...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought.

They don't.  The recent producer's letter said they were adding two new houses in the next game update, so now most of the folks who were upset over the card game are pacified, since they are sure that 90% of the new items added to the game will come from the card game, instead of 99%.  Much ass kissing on the OBoard has ensued since.

I'm talking a little bit more long term than that lol

SWG's playerbase has been getting the shaft since 2003

It's simple, not enough people craft exclusively to worry about them anymore. Most people play combat professions it seems. SO yeah, screw crafters I guess xD

thing is..the devs and producers are yet to realize that the so called traders revamp did very little in the way of making traders needed in game.  Its all bout the loot.  They made making mod tapes so riduculous most traders don't bother with it.  The lack of attention to traders has pretty much made them obsolete.  they should have kept it where weapons and armor degrade over time requiring repair or replacement, food stacked and making loot schematics that required assistance from a trader to complete.  I know the cubes require a trder but thats a tiny drop in a massive bucket.  We have long needed new craftable clothign designs, new housing designs, new pretty much every trader class needed even just one new schematic or craftable each major update..instead traders get tossed a bone once or twice a year.  At this point I do not even know why they bothered having trader as one of the nine "iconic" professons when they cannot give it any real hope of survival.

While SWG has tried to recover from the disaster known as the CU and NGE, until they treat all the professions with equal attention and respect, SWG remains a dying fish in a sea full of sharks

I'd hate to see SWG die. Watching this comedy of errors from SOE is just pure entertainment! Anyone want to place bets on what the next big mistake will be?

I would hafta say from my own experience...most people playin the game hate the card game. I doubt many actually waiste the time playing it.  It's terrible how SOE introduces most new items threw the card game. Rather than putting them straight into the game n leaving the card game seperate.I think SOE is just tryin to suck the last of what they can outta SWG. They prolly will loose 3/4 of their current population when SW:KotOR goes live. And those that stay will dwindle away once there is no population. They know the game is dying...along with the rest of their MMO line-up...

The fact that they are continuing to add items to the TCG tells me they are making coin with it.  Remember the whole point is to pull in the monthly sub along with the RMT.

I agree with you though that they will lose another big chunk of people when TOR comes out.

Which is why they are raping SWG now while they still can XD. They will lose players no mater what they do at this point.

Most people I know whom still play SWG hate the TCG but right now thats how Sony is making money off their old games...TCG and cash shops.  Everyone knows taht when SW: ToR goes live...its over for SWG.  Everyone Iknow whom is currently in SWG is going to SW:ToR soon as its live.  The main reason they are still with SWG right now is cause sadly, other than EVE (which IMO turned into a gankfest years ago) there is virtually nothing SciFi out there.  Rather than put time and efforst into Tabula Rasa, NCSoft threw in the towel and walked away..those I know moved back into SWG due to lack of anything to do till SW:ToR comes out.

    Anyhow just my three cents...

This makes a lot of sense to me.  (Can't comment on EVE mind you, never played it ^_^).  Summary of what's going on with SWG sure rings true though imo.
