Going by Funcom's Q1 08 projections and even Q4 09, when you remove the bonus revenue from box sales, AO, and 3 million licensing fees from selling the game to asia...the Subs have to be below 100k. Playing the game could show you that, if EU is anything like america, this game only supports 3 USA servers with healthy populations but the number of instances in each zone is still far below what was encountered on most of the original release servers.
Anyway, being optomistic and saying 100,000 still play that would at best be 10% of players still play, at worst do to turnover, people still leave AoC it is just they get replaced and because we used a generous figure of 100,000 players - 5% of players who bought the game still playing would be a worst case.
So the range would be AoC lost 90-95% of players and that would be with a 95%ish degree of confidence assuming Funcom did not make up the numbers on the financial reports. I wonder if this game would have only lost half its population if the fans would be so defensive about the numbers and if we would still be seeing some low level new player write a testimonial about how AoC is the best thing ever made daily.
