I went to the WAR website to download the trial, but its telling me there is a patch error, to check if I've got enough disk space, and to see if the game is already running. I've got 30gigs free, and they game isn't already running, anyone have any ideas to fix this?
I downloaded the trial yesterday and even though I had no expectations, the game kept me 'hooked up' for 10 hours straight.
I picked Knight of Blazing Sun and I went pretty much directly for PvP - scenerios first, then area at the north of the map, that is not instanced - I have to say I was not exploring the game much, just PvPed. After 10 hours of gameplay I ended up lvl 9 on both ranks with +300 PKs and died a few times only. The game seems to lack depth(yeah, I am EVE player , but it's not at the expense of fun. I was surprised how PvP is accessible since low lvls. The classes seem balanced(played 1 class only) so far even though I felt a bit overpowered @ MYTHIC - give trial accounts OpenRvR server dammit! :-D
You will find as you progress into higher tiers that PvP isn't as satisfieing as it is in tier 1.
I am not going to address all the supposed concerns about WAR and whether it is "fun" to play because that is subjective. I will say this - any who say that most of the RvR is to be found in "instanced battlegrounds" or scenarios is wrong especially since patch 1.2. The need to hold keeps and battle field objectives coupled with the much lessened effect of scenrio wins towards zone locking has changed this dramatically. Sure scenarios are still there and you can hop into a quick skirmish but much of the fighting is going on everyday in the RvR lakes. I play on Vortex and we have always enjoyed a healthy amount of open world RvR but the patch has served to increased it considerably. There are a few warbands out for either side on a regular basis. Keeps need to be claimed in order for them to count towards the zone lock. This ensures that it will be defended in many instances because the guild responsible for it will be alerted.
Like many others, I bought the game and tried it for the free month, but never was interested enough actually subscribe after that. But heck, I'm willing to give it another go for 10 days, just to see what all the fuss is about.
The only thing I don't see in the free trial FAQ's is how it works if you were a former player. I mean, can I still get a free 10 day trial if I already have a WAR account (even though it's inactive)?
Hi, I didn't have much time to play since Sunday but I started new character, Shadow Warrior.
I think the class is great but here comes my issue - controls. I never PvPed in this 'button bashing' game but controling my stances, ranged and close combat skills while moving around to avoid dmg or get behind the target makes me feel that I need another couple of hands to do that.
Any hints how to adjust the UI or setup key-mapping?
