Instead of watering them down to make 50 odd classes like DAOC, EQ2 and WAR they just pack each one with lots of features. What I love about my Priest in WoW is it can switch between defense to offense and healing where in most mmorpgs I'd only be doing healing.
In WoW's case less is more.
I spent ages trying to find a class I liked in each of them other mmorpgs and failed and quit but in WoW I had fun with any one I played and just had a blast.

I feel the same way.  Im an altaholic because I just want to try out each class.  Wotlk made matters worse by redoing and adding more to the talent trees (lol).  Each class is really fun to me.  Im currently level a warlock, a class I hated for years in vanilla wow because my old main was a rogue.

I think WoW's class system is superior to warhammer in that it makes both horde and alliance completely even and it doesn't make one player feel inferior to another player.  This happened to me in warhammer.  I played a witch hunter (Order)  which was the mirror class of witch elf (Destruction).  Unfortunately the witch elf was the superior class.  The solution I was told to remedy this: Bright wizards of order are superior casters compared to sorceress of destruction, thus making the FACTIONS even, but not necessarily the classes.  Well Bullshit.  Stupid system.  Why should any player want to feel inferior?  This of course led to a TON of people rolling bright wizards/witch elfs.  What warhammer should have done was just had the same exact classes on both sides and make up some stupid lore to support it.

honestly out of all the other MMO's WoW is one of the few to give distinct powers/abilities to its races.  Priests are the best (and i think only) example of where each race has two unique spells that are useful (there is a shock).  Aside from that you have the racial abilities which distinguish an elf warrior from a dwarf warrior but these are poor.   The big problem is the dependance on gear, other games have a heavy focus on stats and so race is a big decision in the kind of build you wish to play for your class (high dexterity warrior (elf) vs a strength based warrior (dwarf).

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
