Most Memorable Moments in Video Games

I was playing Advent Rising today, and although a good bit of seemed new since I hadn't played in so long I noticed that a lot of it stuck with me, even tiny details. It's just a memorable game altogether. Although some scenes stick out, like when Ethan/Olivia drown in Chapter 4. Or Barrakka Bahma in Chapter 5. As well as the alien ship you encounter in the first Chapter and again in the third chapter. And most of all, the moment you can see an entire Aurelian city from a plush, green vista.

And the moment that Earth goes to hell while everyone is happy and cheering that the Seekers left...

There's some more memorable ones, like the Forean Base announcements from Tabula Rasa. As well as the first time you see Earth or a live Eloh. Such a great game.

One of my favorite moments in a game, although not most memorable, was seeing Tom Bombadil's house, Bombadil himself, and the old forest in LOTRO. Definitely one of the best characters from the book. Although Advent Rising still has more memorable moments, being I can still vividily remember them some 3 years later.

Any memorable/awesome moments from your games?

    Waiting for and playing this:

I still think this game is amazing, and I know what you mean about remembering details. It's crazy how the brain works. You can't remember where your keys are, but you can remember where 5 points of armor is hidden from 4 years back.

I'm very easily scared, like even a little noise scares me :P And I have 5.1 surround sound, with volume turned up high, music turned off. I also have a UI mod installed, and turned off NPC (friendly and enemy) markers, town markers turned off and well all markers turned off. I have sound mods installed (one that adds footprints and noises and stuff, so you can hear when stuff is nearby) and one that adds ambient sounds.

I'm playing PC version of fallout 3 with a bunch of mods installed.
Countless times I hear a molerat coming up behind me and I jump a little off my seat...well this was totally beyond that.
I find this underground place, wasn't on the map or anything, like a cave or something. Well it turned out it was someones house and I didn't realize it, but a bunch of mutants were able to follow me in. So my back is turned, and I hear grunting sounds or whatever sounds mutants make. This is at like 2 am in the morning, and I'm dead tired but had to search the cave before logging off. At the same time the ambient sound came into play with yelling and gun shots in the background. So the mutants come charging at me and I hear the gun shots and yelling, and I turned around on my seat and saw a mutant behind me.

I literally pee in my pants :| The sounds from surround sound speakers made it so real and then that illusination happened from lack of sleep. And then the illusination vanished and I see my character is dead killed by a bunch of mutants.

And I really saw a mutant in my room...life size too. And no I don't do drugs, but the past couple week I haven't been able to sleep well. Even passed out for a few hours, made a thread about that. Maybe it was similar, so I was half asleep and imagined it...in any case.

    Still freaked out about it....

lol, yea, sounds like you're reallt enjoy playing Fallout 3.

I remember when I played DoW too much. When I'd go to bed it felt like I was still playing the game. "Build some more space marines." "Capture...that...rez point." "Send dreadnaught to...there." lol

flute boy in Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is memorable because he dies, and I was like "why did he have to die? hes not even a main character?". also all the animals that dance around as he plays the flute one last time before he turns to stone. good storytelling

the very beginning of Breath of FIre when you have to leave the burning house is just a pretty damn cool way to start a game

Both good scenes....only after reading this did I remember that the boy had died in the Legend of Zelda...such a poignant scene.  Amazing how games can do these things.

My blog is a continuing story of what MMO's should be like.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

    Zork

I asked the Cleverbot and she told me the answer.  LOL!

    User: What is a grue?

Cleverbot: A grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light.

User: Where can I find a grue?

    Cleverbot: Play the game Zork.

    Isn't that just awesome!
