So I am sure all of us have been at this point i find myself at thinking.... whats the deal with all the buggy, crappy, or just burnt-out mmo's out there currently. This is not a flame post or anything near more of a what do you look for or wish for in hopes someday the DEVS will read and say " hey, it looks like people want that lets try it"
To start off I guess I will say what I have played and why I stopped or lost interest in said game.
I started off with my interest in games around 2004 I'd say, didn't know much and had a basic computer no uber vid card, no massive memory just something to barely play.
RYL, my first mmo'ish game....belive planetside was the maker. I played this for about 4-6 months. Things seemed ok Iw as happy to play it, interesting and was still enough content to keep me wanting to play, Then rumors started, special accounts with metals ingame that were 100% sucess rate on upgrades I was curious could it be true, obviously later I found out there was a player who had that ability. So yeah enter the HAX whine and then the fall of RYL to a bad patch and little thought on developent ment issues......instantly people started hitting cap levels and unlimited amounts of ingame credits they tried to cover it but it was too late........game dead forced to live on only in the form of private servers? sad I search for a new game all my time and money I put off to a bad investment I said.
EVE ONLINE, Hey whats this a internet space ship game 4TW....never thought I'd like it tbh but I tried I was invited there from a friend in RYL my previous game. Ah yes started about 2005- late 2007. Detail was great, tons of content and ohhh lots of pvp. Even tho I started a bit late I was able to manage and learn new tricks. ah cool they add stuff all the time to this game I said, and the world is vast! So my first corperation was a mostly industrial not much pvp and I didn't care to mine ore in belts, so I joined shadow company a pvp corp and learned alot off them, ohhh pirating interesting so begins the JITA suiciding it was so easy to take from the little carebears, and the profits well lets say were untold of. Eve quickly heard the cries of the victims and upped the security.
Disputes over the plunder erupted, and I ended up leaving not going to point fingers or blame just move on. So I pirated awhile then my first alliance I joined lots of pvp, oh I was a happy camper. This was about the time of the RA vs. LV war. Red alliance backed down to a corner last station enter the bug/exploit thats said to have changed the face of eve to this day, deadspace respawns are hugely bugged. Those who reaped them were said to have almost unlimited war funds everyone did it not just one alliance but "some" set alarm clocks to farm them round the clock 24/7 for months.
Enter goonswarm, viewed as a pile of noobs with ships it wasn't really pvp more like tossing a bomb in the middle of a shopping center. But with leadership they quickly learned and thus began the numbers game, and tech side of combat this got boring quick allances fell.....wars were all over. Several patchs later alliances were getting steamrolled. Ah BOB said to be the best pvp group with close ties to CCP and favors said to be given ( wink ) I didn't like where it was heading and tbh ran out of advil from the constant drama and finger pointing. All said the game still had piles of content but now I know power corupted many.
I still liking the game but wanting out of the drama and back to the pvp I loved small to medium groups where the lag was small CCP the makers of EVE keep trying to rid the game of the lag with some sucess sadly I was losing friends due to burn out many sold out and moved on. Content patchs keep rolling out about the end of 2007 after becoming one of the most feared, and wealthy enough to afford a titan class capital ship already owning 2 motherships and a handful of other capitals I saw the game changing and it would affect me very much as having 6-10 active accounts is not cheap.
So I did the dreaded......pained me to do this but what friends I had left were not playing much and I was sick of the drama and whine on the chat servers from both sides. Talk of corruption set in, I decided to cut and run. I figured why leave when I could profit like everyone else I sold all I had but 1 char. I still own to this day maybe one day I would return I figured if nothing else to see the progression of the game. So I gathered all took me about a month to melt assets into something I could offload and sell......I became something I fought ingame passionatly the credit seller. Having a net worth well able to afford 3-4 titans I quickly sold it I assume to the need and eve's core or hardcore players. Bleh, I want some of my spent money back......oh and then some alot of profit..but I still wanted the pvp so I looked for a new game
Having looked I hoped to start a new era in WARHAMMER......doh launch is still a few months away so I went to STARWARS GALAXIES, a old game but still some activity until warhammer launched...once it did I was there hopes in hand I was disappointed it was very intense to figure out, so many servers I made it to lvl 19 before I finally said it was too complex and annoying to even attempt to let develop. so I returned to starwars galaxies.....after all HOTH! and had a bit of pvp until recently I see only the same max 25-40 enemys in the same lame town restuss and basically it died SWG would not ban the cheaters as they needed every penny they could make......so it leaves me thinking,
When will the DEVS start looking at what a PLAYER wants, not fast profits.
What do all of you look for?
Myself I would like some of the following in a game.
PVP, and not just a server or 2 in a massive maze.
PVE, interesting content and the grindy but still enough to keep from going to cap level in a week
Storyline, is it so hard to ask anymore?
Limited servers, why you ask because it's a waste to see 50 servers and only a few active. MERGE the damn player base. Dead servers are a sure sign of a failed game imo.
Anti-corruption, If GM's cannot keep from sticking a finger in a subscription game only to exert powers they shouldn't have a job. Someday Mr. Obama will pass a law on it. ( I said it first )
a buddy system is nice as well.
Char. customization and development. Not a fan of eve's skill training
Community, a nice clean interface and forums ( anti warhammer 3-4 maybe 5 webpages to signup for )
And finally FFS is it to hard to develop a free trade system anymore which is easy to use. ( warhammer fails here again )
Well thats all I had time to babble I guess, thanks for reading and to all the games in PHAIL MODE move to the United States and bailout cash is almost a sure bet!
