Stargate:Worlds site has gone missing

mrprogguymrprogguy Member Posts: 53

Well, at least from here, I can't reach http://www.stargateworlds.com.  It's been 118 days since the devs have been paid out there, according to the "Days Since..." page. Can anyone reach it? Has anyone heard anything?

Not meaning to jump to conclusions or anything, but it has been looking like the thing was going under.

Of course, for all I know they're doing site maintenance.

Arguing with me will not make you right.

     Works fine for me...

Good.  It's probably some upstream switch issue at Level 3 in Atlanta or something equally silly.

There's still hope that the game will hit the street sometime this decade, then.

Link you posted didn't work for me.

Did a quick Google Stargateworlds and that link worked: http://www.stargateworlds.com/ , perhaps it's the slash / missing at your end.

As I understand HTTP protocol (and I work with it every day), the slash makes no difference.  I tested with the trailing slash nonetheless and I still can't get there.

From here it looks (with traceroute, that is) like things go into the weeds in Phoenix at PureGig.net.

If everyone else can get to it, I'm good with that.

I'm in Atlanta and it worked fine for me.

However, a more important link, is this one:

Any particular reason this thread was moved?

I'm starting to notice a trend that anything remotely in the negative in the Pub gets moved... or deleted...

I get a blank page when going to http://www.stargateworlds.com, but it works when going to http://stargateworlds.com.

I notice that www.stargateworlds.com resolves to 69.16.140.23 and 69.16.140.24, but stargateworlds.com goes to 69.16.140.10. It looks like the web server on a machine or two isn't working right.

The 'days since pay' site is apparently not being updated and therefore the information presented is way out-of-date.   I'm fairly certain there's been some paycheck movement recently.

Thought I would go ahead and reply here. From what I was told, they are working on the DNS servers that the SGW website uses. Thus, the issue of attempting to load the SGW site or other domains from said name servers will fail due to those changes taking place.

The site is there. In fact, some folks on the main forums were having trouble accessing it around 2:30 AM PST about a week and a half ago or so. Just as much speculation that this is from a preparation for an update/revamp as there is speculation on everything else. Only time will tell, but for now, the site and main forums don't seem to be going anywhere.

How the days since a website (that clearly had no informative purpose to begin with) equates with how long since the devs have gotten paid is a bit beyond my logic.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

Issues should be fixed now as far from what I was told. Was DNS issues after all. :)

Not trying to nrecro an old post, but I've been unable to access SGW site for a couple of days now (from about the 28th or so).

Anyone else having the same issue?

Not that my hopes are up, but an official update (rather than a lazy 2 screenshot update) would be nice... even if it's a funeral.

No problems here getting the site to load.

One problem I have on the forums is that the Dev Tracker does not work if you are not logged in. I don't want to log in again until the product is real and it is not connected to a man caght up in any kind of MLM scheme.

Huh... that's just weird. I can (and have been able to) get to the SGW forum sub-domain, just not the main "official" site. Must be a relay issue.

I can't find the link, but a few days ago one of the admins on the forums said that there was going to be some downtime coming up, if i find it again, i'll add the link.

    *edit*
scratch that, it was on the 25th, and the next post says it was completed.

Site is up fine, probably just maintenance.  Also, Gateworld just did an article about the game still being produced.

While I'm still very concerned that this title won't live up to expectations I am not ready to call it 'dead' just yet.  I think it'll be fine for now.
