spear or not to spear?

hi guys. i need some help regarding my plan to change my staff main into a spear. i have nothing against staff but it seems to be a boring character for me. i prefer having a main that has good damage and does great combos. which is why i turned my sights into becoming a spear main. but people keep telling me that spears are one of the weakest, in terms of defence and in PvPs.
I just want to know if it is true that spears are weak and that i should not change my staff into one. do guys here think it is so?

I'm using spear as a main before, and another spear.. For me I like the lightning spear skill that decreases the ap of the enemy but with a low damage... It can be useful to damage the enemy with normal attack (2 mercs in a line) but the breakdown has just average damage.. so, I'm not satisfied with it.. I just noticed that spears are good when i used a brutal will with it.. The normal attack really damage the enemy..

I would suggest simply trying out a spear for a while (make a new character) and see if you like it.
They do seem pretty weak though.

yeah he's right try to play it for awhile so you can decide if you still want it.. but for me spearman will be out of my line soon when i can have a C mercenaries.
in terms of pvp spear has the weakest defence.. but in damage you can relay on it.. with the help of the right mercs i think spear would a good main also.. ^^, why not create a new character first then try to experiment with it.. ^^,
i did tried out a spear main. I love it, and even got it to level 30. I guess its right for me and I will be drinking the 32M vial of amnesia to become one later this day. Yey!
