No matter what anybody says , that shit looks fun ! Great Vid.
not just looks either; it *is* fun.
hell, WOW *looks* fun, and it is, until you realise you need to grind for few thousand hours to get to max level and then you have to devote 20 hours a week to raid to progress further. AoC *looks* like fun until you realise it's a shallow, heavily instanced, buggy & laggy piece of crap.
I was involved in that Hamlet battle. Reportedly 300 or so people. Our Guild, Image helped support the Hamlet. We brought about 40 members. We travelled about 1/2 just to get there. As we crested a hill we saw enemies as far as the eye could see scattered all along the plains with a concentration of the attacking clan and alliances secured up in the city. The battle in the vid was before we got there. It was the most amazing fun I have ever had in an MMO. This is also just the beginning. A lot of our time has been devoted into building our city (almost complete). The real fun will be bringing in the siege equipment.
p.s. System specs are: Dual core E8400 3 ghrtz 4 gigs ram 8800gts (320 mb) vista 64 In this battle all settings were maxed with minimal lag.
I have yet to see a video that looks anywhere near the 300+ people always quoted. Enemies "as far as the eye could see"? Well, seeing that the view fogs out after a couple hundred meters, that isn't saying much.
It is cause themeparks stuck in "x number per instance supported" ..so there is a max amount of x players allowed wheras DarkFall supports battles of any size ..

Sounds awesome with the 150vs150 battles. Could anyone please link a video or screenshot with these numbers in? I cant seem to find any myself, thanks in advance though
I dunno? Why is number important? The fanboys keep bringing it up.
Because it isn't true.
Next time you look at one of the videos freeze frame it and count the number of people in frame at once. Normally around 30 or so.....far from 150.
Now go back to some of the DAOC or EVE battle footage and do the same thing....surprise hundreds of avatars in frame.
They are just trying to convince themselves that they have something that has never been done before which is patently untrue.
Either that or they are being told to post these comments when they get their paychecks from Aventurine for shilling and failboi trolling..
That is the funniest part. Every time they come here with something "no other MMO has done before" we start naming several that have. Then we are trolls.
it's not. the biggest battle i have been in recently had about 50 people and was totally graphics & network lag free with max graphic settings at 1900x1200 and on a reasonably average PC (8800GT), which is a lot more than i can say about warhammer when i was playing it (laggy as all hell).
All the videos of pvp i saw from this game all look, play the same. Massive amount of peoples running into each other bashing and slashing each other randomly. That's what you call hardcore pvp ?
No knockdown when getting rammed by person on mount? What's the point of being mounted in combat then? Do you do more damage?
no knockdown, but there is a knockback. you do 250% normal damage when charging with a weapon. the mount itself has its own attack forwards & backwards that hits pretty hard too.

Is it like the front/back attack you are talking about? (referencing the knockback). Because in the video, I didn't see anyone getting knocked back (at least I don't recall it happening). It was more like the people mounted came to a dead stop, or passed right by the people. The 250% damage thing is nice. If it does 250% damage, and I crit. Do I get a decapitation if it 1 hit KOs the person? That would be something to see lol. Maybe I've watched Braveheart one too many times.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
All i can see is 2 types of swings, a blue ball with a horrible decal projection for a light, terrible animations, about 50 people, and rubber banding through walls and tons of "Swing and miss", then 10 milliseconds later the guy you missed squirts blood out.....

holy crap.. those riding animations are just terrible. The funny thing is with the video and your comment. it just shows you haven't played any of the real MMORPGs on the market, and probably have been playing free ones or ones like AO and shadowbane. Darkfall is just not up to 2008 standards, the combat is very very boring and basic and the graphics are 6 years old.... and even 6 years ago, the animations would be laughed at. The cool thing in the movie was though that there was one person actually using magic in combat out of probably 50 people in the fight. In my week of playing, I never saw a player use magic in combat.. only time I saw it was in cities as they shot spells up into the air. I mean seriously.. look at the riding animation again.
Yay, another pixel whore!
Some people enjoy gameplay over silly animations and pixels. Ever thought of that? Why do you think there are still plenty of people playing games such as UO, SB, AC:DT. For graphics? lol.

Haha, what? UO, SB, AC:DT had top of the line graphics for their time? ROFL. You clearly must have been still pooping your underwear at the time and not have any clue about games and graphics then lol.

Yes. For the MMO genres, yes they most certainly did.
UO = September 25, 1997.
AC = November 2, 1999.
Don't blame your ignorance on others, and get all butt-hurt.

No, no, no, that's not the game it is all the fault of either Youtube or FRAPS donchaknow??
Just thought I would save the insane some typing since this is what they will all blame it on anyway.

latency has nothing to do with your vid card.....it has to do with communication between you and the server.
that's why i expressly said "network and graphics lag-free" instead of "lag-free" because "lag" is commonly used to refer to both.

yes i know, was just further expounding on latency

not only the combat. Animations are horrible, all design is horrible (city, walls etc)
Horrible is the word. and saw lot of bugs. this is not pvp but pk , anarchy and chaos.
