We have all played alot of bad mmos in the past 5 to 7 years and I want the players to decide whuch game launch was worst. I vote Vanguard slightly ahead of AOC but i want to see everyone elses opinion as these games launched in the worst way.
Comments
I was reading a ROM post and this topic popped in my head. Just vote, I want to see what players think.
dark and light is the worst and it's not even on this list. the guy who has a new account just to post that about darkfall doesn't even have any idea.

never played anyof these
Aww not a legitimate poll without Asheron's Call 2 on there.
1° Dark and Light
2° Darkfall
Well I only played 5 of them at launch but for me it has to be Auto Assault.
Or maybe it was Vanguard.
I don't know ... Vanguard was a terrible launch, but AA was just bad. I still think there was potential in the idea but the game had no idea of direction. You were sort of casting spells in your car - weird.
Imagine if it had been like EVE, but on land with cars instead of space ships. It could have been Mad Max, but it was just sad.
Actually Tabula Rasa was pretty sad too. One starting race, one starting town. It was fun for a few days I guess.
There really have been some pretty woeful launches.
Darkfall without a doubt
I hate to keep defending Aoc but the launch of Aoc was not bad.Aoc had great sub. numbers and small problems that interupt gameplay was fix at a good rate.Aoc was incomplete game and some may go as to call it a bad game.It did not have a bad launch.
A bad launch has game that release with crippling errors which prevent players from playing one of the two times will be most happy playing(the first days in new mmo and when character hits max level).AO and Vanguard are one and two.I will put darkfall "Euro" launch at three and give them pass if have an "Amercian" launch which would in way make for their launch so far.
Out of those I pick Anarchy Online but for any MMOG I pick World War II Online.
SWG was the highest profile with more hype than Halo and frigging everyone bought that game and it let everyone down. So many people quit on launch day cause it was buggy as fuck with no content and lacking so many features.
Darkfall and Dark N Light may have been shitter games but really noone gives a shit about them but like 10,000 niche people on this site.
If you take into consideration the gap between potential and how deep it fell, its clearly Vanguard. It could have been great, but the fall was so deep that it will never really recover. Sadly so.
Hellgate or TR were supposed to fail IMO anyway.

Roma Victor was AWFUL. Seriously... I didn't know lag until I played that game :-D 30 seconds to a minute delays to perform a task at one point. Sometimes even completely unresponsive.
All the items were named things like jug_a, spade_a and stuff like that.
The water arched up into the air, almost looked like it was made of jelly (or jello as you yanks call it :-D)
Just a seriously bad game in general.. so I suppose it's not specific to the launch.
Is it just me or have almost all MMOs had teething problems? Warhammer was one of the smoothest launches I've played but it still had a few issues. I think it just goes with the turf.
MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, City of Villains / Heroes, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor
The problem with WAR wasn't tech issues or polish but just that the game tried to copy WoW and wasn't anywhere near as good and just come off generic which people don't want to play a generic game cause they fell no attachment or excitment by it.
Definetly vanguard or everquest. Everquest lag was incredible, you would cast a spell,a nd it would come out ten minutes later....i remember the first week pvp servers had free loot on too and it sucked level 25's were losing there stuff like crazy that htey worked all week for. Def. everquest or vanguard, sony just has a history in this.
Darkfall, well i wouldn't even put that on the list, considering they don't even have any issues other than billing and that really has nothing to do with in game
so yeah the worst launch is unanimously vanguard second everuqest but not opinion thats fact.
How are you defining bad? Low initial numbers or unfinished / buggy gameplay, gameplay that was simply not what was expected?
Any way you look at it you are failing to include some the the worst launches.
I'm sure there are others. The only that I have tried on the list that actually belongs there is Vanguard. I played the beta for that and knew what was coming up. I still managed to have fun and still occasionally resub when I've got the spare time.

No Dark and Light, huh? Time to do more research, bud...
Your first post was ignorant, but this one is right on.
Darfall without doubt 100 % worst ever ever ever and doubt there will ever be a worse one ( except Darkfall 2 ? lol )
Darkfall without a doubt in my mind.
Any company that underestimates their initial sale potential by upwards of 300,000 customers is absolutely insane and deserves this award.
It looks like Darkfall is winning this debate. Sorry for not adding Dark and Light. I forgot about the game because I have never heard of one person playing it.
Darkfall without a doubt. Botched up billing, staged release, server queues, constant server disconnects and maintenance, stamina hacks, speed hacks, teleport hacks, macroing, etc.
My second and third choice would've been Anarchy Online and Age of Conan.
never played it but i read the horror story launch that was Mourning
i went with tabula Rasa only because right out of a great beta the game when to Sh*t....and the game had potential.
I chose this over Darkfall only because i chose not to get caught up in the hype so i wasn't really let down
