Why does this game suck so bad?

You tell me. People here say that Darkfall or "Dorkfail" is one of the worst MMORPGs to be created, how it should never have been in existance, blah, blah, blah. So tell me, why does this game suck in your opinion? Quite honestly, I haven't heard anyone say it's actually that good, so what's the problem?

It would be far more constructive to ask people's opinions, perhaps through a poll, than to go this route. Not to mention there are already many threads on the topic that do a better job.

The game itself is really good.

I read alot here before going crazy and decided to give it a try. And i was prepared for a real disaster. And boy was o disappointed. I have ot had this fun got years. WoW is also fun. But not in this way.

We should read this forum for amusement, not fact. If you wanna see how Darkfall is, i think its best to try it.

And besides that, what does most people complain about about?  Yep, that Darkfall is not like WoW. And that is the whole point. Now i have two great MMOs to play. From both sides of the spectrum. Themepart PvE and sandbox PvP.

Last I heard people were still waiting for their pre-orders so there's not much trying to do I think.

Also I wouldn't fork over full retail price for any launch-MMO without at least having played a trial or a large amount of people saying it's great + gameplay videos that actually look interesting. But that's just me.

So far the problems I have had with the game;

 

 

Its not new user friendly, the controls are a little confusing and there is very little time they give you to test out since your just thrown in the frey of the world. In my first try of the game when I started I had a guy beating on me while I was learning the controls.

 

Way too many people hanging out at the starter areas, I couldn't get any quests done cause of kill stealing and being pked from people jumping purposly infront of my attacks so they can kill me.

 

Map needs more detail, since it don't tell you where anything is in town so you have to waste time looking for little things.

 

People abusing rogue system and loging out when losing a fight.

 

 

That's about all I can think of so far.

But do something else then. Thats what i use to do. I think it is so fun that i dont have to do any quests in DF. As a long time WoW player i have done nothing but quests for the last years.

From what i have seen it is true. It have never happend to me. I try and not give the morons a chance to do it. But we need also mention that there are as many helping new players.

Since DF is in a closed beta state I'd wait until it actually launches to try it out, but I doubt it will ever really launch. We're 3 weeks from the official launch and you still can't buy the game and play unless the God Tasos deems your nose worthy to soil his divine backside!

The experiment in how much BS gamers will take and still hand over their money and defend you with their own children on the forums is a turd. The fact is it hasn't launched and the Beta state has half of the the promised features over the last ten years missing. Or as the fan faithfull would say "It isn't enabled yet", meaning it isn't there nor is it likley to appear considering the fact that Aventurine can't afford more than one server.

Just look at the signs man, this is merely the red haired inbred child of a marriage between Dark and Light and Shadowbane. To those that enjoy the closed Beta, I applaud you. May you be happy playing this MMORPG and no other until the end of your days!

I did have one person help me, after someone jumped my attack and killed me, someone came over and rezed me before I was ganked but then the guy who killed me before just ran right over and killed me again which then he ganked me other then that I have not had any assistance in the game.

The game sucks because I can't drink coffee during combat like I could in most other MMOs I've tried.

That's all I could think of really, and not really a con ;p

The game may not have lived up to player hype, but it's the first MMO in 5 years I've had fun playing for more than a week. The first time I logged in, it brought back that "lost newbie" feeling I never thought I'd experience again. It's happened in MUDs, it happened in Ultima Online. It happened in Anarchy Online when I exited the backyards... and now, again with Darkfall. That's just about the biggest compliment I can give to a new MMO.

weird... things like that are just griefing and not something a real PVPer would bother with, cuz well, it's sissified.  but i'm sure there are a lot of people that would say "it's great being a big ole sissy, that's how i roll".  so um, to each his own i guess.  some people can pvp, some have to sissy-up to grief and get kills (or avoid being killed).

• Snotty arrogant lead developer thats gives snotty assed interviews
• Hyped up feature list with many features missing.
• Developer and fanbots defaults to "PVP FFA full Loot" anytime the lacking feature list is mentioned
• Contraversial nature of PVP FFA full loot (this is the only thing not AV fault... amazing .. I know!)
• Amateur animation and implementation of many features. Do lots fast.. do little well.
• Acceptance of unpolished core features by fanbase.
• Focussing on too much feature and not core features like combat animations and complexity. Game has major fature creep.
• Stupid lead developer comments like "the game is ready to launch" made years ago !
• Game "released" in unpolished sate
• No real stress testing or machine configuration testing before this paid for beta
• Recently accusations of too much queing time.. server over subscribed ?
• Redefining the MMO release models with all power to the developer
• NDA almost right up till launch.
• Citing other games as direct "likeness". e.g. Mount and Blade for combat when the comparison is rudimentry.
• Poor to dire billing. People charged twice, manual input of plaintext CC information by aventurine.
• Inability to offer game on a level platform. i.e. artifical supply and high demand, unable to offer American players there own server.
• Game has attracted some very intelligent and deluded fanbots AND some gutter quality peoples. Odd mix.
• Horrible community. See the offical forums and spot the "fag"... "ghey".."AIDS" or other immature comments. (Only Javac uses such lanuage in this thread).
• Widespread hacking and cheating in game due very Insecure client and work on
• Lack of clarfication by AV on what is cheating
• Rampant mods and GMs. Probably little guidelines given to them.
• Inability of AV to update its own website.
• Oddities about who is publishing DF. Was orginally 3rd party but it fell through and they self published.
• Censorship on offical forums where flame threads are allowed but well thought out critcism is removed
• Continuing control of truth by removing things such as the in game player counter so we dont know the concurrent player number.

Mostly I will conceed the game is not the main problem its the develpers and one man. HOWEVER since they are attached to there product the reflection is obvious.

The most amazing thing in DF is that above poster is mostly right but still game itself is a lot more fun to play than any other mmorpgs out there.

Haha that is SO true. Those of us who expected something closer to UO can only be disapointed, more than half the promised features have either be removed during development, or done in a crappy half-assed way, or not done at all.

The rest of your post is spot on too, as a Darkfall beta tester I agree 200%.
