Imagine running this business, where your team has been working on this product for years on end. You are just a small company, with modest goals, a good amount of passion, and with your heart in the right place. You and your team are all avid gamers, been there all your life, playing. Now, at this point in time, your dream is about to come true, to release your vision of the perfect game. Not to the masses, by all means, who caters to the masses caters to the lowest common denominator. No, this is for the MUD vets, this is for those who can distinguish good wine from different districts, have read there fair share of world literature, and have the wisdom of a good amount of time on this planet, to sit back and relax, calmly, while everything around them wrecks havoc.

Imagine then, that this product, happens to fall in an industry where the vast majority of customers are hopelessly lost and immature children, young and stupid enough not to care, just old enough to pay. These are your judges. It is from the screaming kindergardens of the internet that you will be judged. This would give me a sleepless night or two. As such, you are now being judged by kids, who have no real experience of any importance, who have never been emotionally or intellectually challenged. A mass that are years and years away from any real life experience of any importance, that could potentially shape them into, thoughtful beings that can think twice, and maybe shutting tfu sometimes, just enough to understand, that not all things are what they seem by first sight. It is fair to say, there is more to this world than wow and britney speers.

I can only imagine how it must feel right now, to be Adventurine, with 200k kids banging on their doors, on their digital witchhunt, only out to destroy what is original and out of the box. Dealing out death and judgment, to everything that is not ordinary or easily understood.

I say to you, veterans of an earlier age, or people with common sense, take no heed of these hordes of fools, they might mean harm, but their sting is as soft as childrens tears. They will all grow up (some of them at least) and cringe at their mistakes.

Crybabies begone.

Patience and perseverance, take ages to learn, but with it, the world stays sane.

Good luck.

Nice failboi troll, BTW you spelled Aventurine wrong.

You should at least be able to spell the name of your shill employer correctly, btw where do you get the 200K number? Made up and pulled out of your a$$?

"Crybabies begone" does that mean you are leaving since all you did in that post is whine and cry about how unfair the world is to poor "Adventurine" (your spelling)

um, too bad there weren't ever any other independant gaming companies out there making games like eve online, setting the bar pretty high for indies...

    oh wait.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Yet another "it's the customers fault" post by an apologist fanboy trying to set himself as above everyone else.

YOU are what's wrong. You settle, you have no standards,  Your precious company couldn't provide servers. Your precious company couldn't get a billing system that worked.

    Intelligent post.

So you think its that easy.

Countering your arguments for not providing sufficient servers. Wow had the same problems at launch. I was in queues hours before being able to log in, for a few weeks. Same with most other mmo's.

What im getting at here, albeit in an overdramatic manner, i give you that, is that Its hard to find good arguments for why darkfall is an absolute failure. Its hype, its a digittal witchhunt, no less.

If all this proves anything, other than the internet being ruled by kids, is that Darkfall at least managed to hype up the crowd. People are dissapointed, but why? because they cant play?

Sure paying for something you cant play, sucks. But look at the industry, this cant be considered the worst launch, nor the worst game by any means, yet this it what it is portraited as here.

I guess im taking a fight that I cant possibly win. But my failure, again just proves my point above.

Alittle more thought by the majority of posters here, would be nice.

with OP, Aventurine is still a thousand leagues above any whining brat or retard who thinks he has the right to demand anything and couldn't even program 2 lines of Turbo Pascal or draw an apple himself.

Considering that the majority of haters and drama queens (the ones who replied untill now in this thread for instance) never even contemplated to try Darkfall but just love to bash on an Internet forum to show how tough they are, and that a minority will maybe lose the enormous total of 20 dollars for a game no one forced them to try anyway, OP is completely right to say kiddie customers/attention whores should just STFU and GTFO of forums, and btw you're not needed in mmorpgs either.

This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bYYT6Wg3Gg and this :  http://www.darkfallonline.com/features/  , followed by that Dec2008 news with a : "99% Feature complete"  stated by Tasos, looks like a Perfect Game.

What has been released it is just another Smoke Bridge, one step further than D&L, that people with common sense will just avoid while the fools, like you OP, stand in queue to buy it because someone (The Smoke Bridge seller) placed a Big Shiny Carrot (FFA Full Loot) hanging somehwere in the middle of that useless metal mess of a Bridge and told you beautiful words, softly at  your ear, just like a giggolo jumping a lonely and rich Granny would do.

You are the one who has lost the common sense OP, just like the bridge's buyer and the rich Granny, after a Carrot shining amongst the junk.

What's the next Carrot? Yes, we know it: they will magically fix in a few weeks a mess that took them years to produce.

Only a fool would believe that.

Ah, but, if that were truly the case, then wouldn't all those people be able to recognize the game's brilliance on their own without needing to read this wall of pretentious self-masturbation you just posted?

I did enjoy your post though.

I haven`t seen aventurine advertise anywhere.

I would like to be able to discuss features in Darkfall on this forum, because after all this is the Darkfall forum. All I read these days are trolls that haven`t even tried the game. And yes, Darkfall is like a fine wine for some of us, and we`ll wait for them to put up some more servers. If we are 200k or not I don`t know, but I know we are many.

Well I'd becarefull as even the finest Vintage of Dom Perignon once opened will taste like flat, sour piss water by the next day. So I guess I agree with you that DFO is like a fine wine, three weeks after the botlle has been opened and only a few of the real conisseurs allowed to taste, it now is no better than a gallon of cat pee!

It's been 3 weeks and it's still a closed Beta with one server, it seems to me that you conisseurs of MMORPGs are prepared to sit and watch the grapes grow. Then wait for it to be made then mature, however you don't see the plague of hungry locusts (bugs) on the horizon that the rest of us are shouting about.

Still, means more beer and Pizza for the rest of us!

If they opened the doors on DF to soon, that was a massive mistake. If their budget was too small, that was a mistake. If they had planned to have a  solid core of players and add to the original 'X number' of pre-sales based on their server (hopefully server cluster...) capacity then that would have been a good idea but it doesn't seems to have happened.

The bottom line is that if a company rolls out a product, it had better work when it opens or it needs to be fixed on the fly in a very short period of time. Nothing else.

I'd rather wait a few months for Aventurine to get their servers and billing system run smoothly , than wait a millennium for some multi-million giant to deliver a MMO fitting my personal standarts.

I've seen people saying that a company of the likes of EA, Blizzard, SOE etc should see the untapped niche Aventurine's aiming for and use their funds to deliver a nice, professional product for us.

    I mean, seriously.

    And they call me delusional.

    "Under promise, over deliver"

Sadly DF didnt. They basically just failed at managing the whole thing correctly, they overestimated their capacity. And in the end the game releases after 7 years in development, when it probably  should have launched about 2 years ago. They should have made hard choices like cutting unnecessary content, focusing on the core gameplay, getting decent size beta testing in place on and off for a solid year. For example, boats and naval warfare. Was that really necessary to have finished at launch? And how about the "huge" world. Did it need to be so huge at launch? Ask yourself this, could they have cut some of this and put their resources to better use?

Instead, a few weeks from "launch", and they were making changes to their Rogue system. And this is a PvP centric game. This should be the most polished part of the game. Yet yhey hadnt anticipated players intentionaly getting hit so they could freely attack them back without penalty.... yet players worked out how to do this from day 1. It just boggles the mind, who was making the design decisions? How could they not anticipate something that is obvious even on paper? And players being unable to defend their loot from a would-be thief without getting a penalty. Who was smoking the wacky when they designed that?

And please dont give me the "they wanted to launch with the game fully finished" bs. Because thats what they attempted and they failed at that. Look where it got them. 7 years into development, and forced into what is little more than a paid beta testing.

I congratulate them for trying something new. Now we just need a real developer to do it right.

which is why i pointed out CCP...
Considering that the majority of haters and drama queens (the ones who replied untill now in this thread for instance)
indeed, pointing out that there exists a bar, a standard if you will, for independent developers is drama queenesque?
never even contemplated to try Darkfall but just love to bash on an Internet forum to show how tough they are,
i'd give it a try... when can i purchase it in stores?  lacking that, when can i simply go to a url and purchase it.  i have no desire to be involved in any "drama" to simply purchase a game, which by all looks in EVERY ingame video thus far... is dated in every fashion.

this game only costs twenty dollars now?  seriously?  when did the price drop... oh, and i'd appreciate not so much 'drama queen' out of you as well.  don't QQ about drama queens and then spout off those last comments.

Hopefully, we'll start seeing information on the World of Darkness game which CCP is developing.  I would guess that once 'walking in stations' has been delivered in Eve -- shortly afterwards, we'll begin getting world of darkness updates, and that they'll use the same engine that eve will use for humanoid avatars.

Some grade "A" bullshit right there. Love the "greater than tho" attitude.

Oh and people with common sense usually stick to the tried and tested formula. You know, stay away from losers who spend nearly a decade making a game, promising it will have everything under the sun, only to realise it was all lies.

You're right. It will take ages to learn, coz some people are very slow learners and others, like you, never learn at all.

Excellent post OP and without you haven't it intended your points got proofed by whacky troll responses..

Tho i disagree about 1 thing, most of the trolls, troll just to troll the company, they never tried the game, they aren't interested in the game..

MMORPG.com moderators deny top maderate this forum properly and these loosers take the presented opportunity to talk shit about something that's not themselves..

Tho i disagree about 1 thing, most of the trolls, troll just to troll the company, they never tried the game, they aren't interested in the game..
MMORPG.com moderators deny top maderate this forum properly and these loosers take the presented opportunity to talk shit about something that's not themselves..

oddly enough, that's not the swg board rules, because the refuge IS filled with people who have played the game.

and the op is a blatant troll post -- yeah, you agree that it's a great post... says something, says a lot and nothing good.

the bar's been set by ccp for indie games -- darkfall is just full of fail at reaching that bar.   i have faith that the world of darkness mmo will meet it... fanbois will defnitely not be welcomed.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

How was EvE two weeks in to release ?

Guess it had to fight less trolls ? people have given it a fair chance ?

DarkFall is a good promising game and will make his way.
