It seems to me there is a good 6 months to go before there is a semblance of class balance.
Warriors were thought to be pretty stable and "good to go". Then, the complaints started of Warrior charge in PVP and a skill that was "perfect" in terms of its use in PVE was nerfed away. Now, it appears an entire Talent branch for a DPS Fury warrior has been made completely useless becuase, when applied to one isolated area of Blackrock Warlocks and Battlemasters, was overpowered with max equipment and under ideal conditions. Now Warriors, a class that was supposed to be near completion is now back to the drawing board.
Many classes don't even have their talents.
Warlocks are a class balance joke.
Now I understand wanting to get things correct. However, you don't listen to whoever cries the loudest and just start swinging the nerf bat.
All I know for sure is this: You can balance classes for PVE OR PVP, not both at the same time.
Priests have went from crowd-control charmers in the original concept to the "relegated to only healers" role which they have in every other game because Bliz couldn't balance those abilities when it came to PVP. The Ultimate balance is having everyone the exact same class with the exact same abilities. The more the distinguishing characteristics of the classes are nerfed (mage HIGH DPS burst ability, priest mind abilities, sleep, shield, invisibility, stealth, etc etc etc) to parity the closer we get to that imaginary point.
I sometimes wonder if there is even a direction.
eg 1. here is a small example - let's use warrior charge
-Problem: Charge never misses and can be used over and over on a caster to keep them stunned until they are dead if the original Mighty Strike chain doesn't do them in
Bliz Solution: You can only charge once. It still NEVER misses. You can't use it if in combat (ie you cant shoot a bow or gun to pull and then charge in pve)
Tombs solution: Give Charge a chance to miss and enhance the "root" or "stun" abilities of casters to make them a tougher pvp target. If priests can instant cast a shield then a targeted PB (meaning you can't abuse this from range) uninterruptable root is certainly not overbalancing if it has a long refresh time( then it would be One Get Out of Jail Free Card per fight per mob)
eq 2. Pyro is one shotting players in PVP
Bliz solution: Nerf pyro damage which, when combined with the inability to drink during combat, lowers mage dps output to below a rogue (which is not the intent)
Tombs solution: Umm, what every other PVP game has figured out long ago -------------> Scale damage for PVP. If Pyro does 1400 damage PVE it would do 70 percent against a Player, or 980 (could two shot another caster and four shot a warrior)...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hear everyone saying "Well this is Blizzard and I have complete faith in them." Well if this were a RTS type game I would say you are probably right, but even though Kobe Bryant is a great athlete and a strong basketball player, that doesn't mean he can play golf and shoot Par.
