What are you sick of from WoW?  The grinding? The raid? what?  What are you looking more into?

If you're talking about the hack n slash game Champions, one game comes to mind in particular. It's called Dungeon Runners. It has exactly the same type of gameplay as Champions, except you can play with others and it has a touch of humor to it. The game is $5/mo for members and free for non members. The content you can see and the gear you can obtain depends upon whether or not you're a member. The fee is worth it, but the game doesn't have any long term appeal. But it's good enough to get your mind off WoW for a while and enjoy some different gameplay. I forget who makes Dungeon Runners, either Cryptic or NCsoft.

It all depends on your taste and computer. But here are a few that offers free trials that are worth a test:

    EQ2, Vanguard, LOTRO.

As for the F2P, only game worth playing I seen is Runes of magic. Guildwars however are miles better but cost an initial fee. You could probably find a Guildwars Prophesis for about $10 if you look around, great buy. GW don't have a free trial but I think there are a trial key, you could probably also buy an account on E-bay or something.

If you are aiming for a Sci-fi game instead, try Eve. Never seen any good modern or Cyberpunk games but some will come eventually.

If you are a hard worker

If you are not the typical current mmorpg gamer who lives for instant gratification.

If you don't mind 90% group based content

If you like to take games slow have fun, not hurry to the max level

    If you don't like PvP

If you like a Mature community of mostly adult players (By mmorpg standards).

If you want a Challenge and actually want to sometimes be unable to do things because of their difficulty.

    Play FFXI

I want to say at least 8/10 people who try FFXI quit for the following reasons

    Forced group play

No solo play what so ever after around level 20

    Slow grind

Spend hours and hours doing something and the reward does not come by until much later

    No PvP

They ruin their reputation due to their lack of respect for other players (FFXI is a community game its group oriented, if your an ass people will usually spread the word and you basically will find it very hard to progress in a server of only about 1700+ US players per server...if this happens your best bet is to make a good showing at 3am parties with the 2500+ JP players per server.

LOL.  Some of us work hard IRL, and don't need more of the same when we go home to play a game.

The problem I have with reccommending older mmos is that most of the people are already at max level which means you will find yourself soloing most of the content yourself  unless you can find a good guild that actually helps some. I actually would suggest WAR or AOC because they are the newer mmos and you can still find people to group with at lower levels.

IMO if you are sick of WoW you will get sick of those 3 awfully quick also......EQ2 and loTRO both feel alot like WOW in their gameplay....Eve may be a better match but is very hardcore and very unforgiving......It really depends on your own personal tastes and I would jsut recommend reading up on games and trying different ones......A game that is totally different from WoW and is free is Atlantica....You might want to give it a shot......WAR also has a free ten day trial that has alot of former WoW players......Some people think it is WoW with PVP based play but it seemed alot more fun to me.

I go to college, am a full time student 18 units, GPA 3.5 As well as "Until 2 weeks ago" was a part time worker at Circuit city (which is dead now). I managed to play FFXI 2 months on 1 month off. I would stop my Fee around mid term time and around Finals. did that for about 2 years. yeah it took me a while but I got a level 75 in about 13 months. Even with only about 10-12 hours of play time a week you can do things in FFXI it will just take you sometime. Work or no work school or no school. Im about to get my BA in Counseling &  Therapy by the end of this year and next year start working for my Masters. I still Think Il have time to play FFXI at least what I have now. If I don't oh well. But I am sure its manegable.

That being said you probably would need to cut back on a lot of other activities you may enjoy. I loved Fishing but Iv choosen to play FFXI over going fishing the last few months. Might go on a Fishing trip on spring brake :)
