New budget PC

Nero1984Nero1984 Member Posts: 3

Hi Guys,

I have decided to build a cheap PC to play a couple of games. I currently have a netbook which I love but doesn't play the games I want to.

The games I want to play are Bioshock, City of heroes, I have found a motherboard/Cpu/memory bundle which looks well priced. After looking into a few of the items the bundle looks ok and not too overpowered as i dont require the most powerful PC.

I have supplied a link to the bundle, would you be able to leave comments to what you think of it and maybe supply a cheap but decent gaphics card which will be able to handle the games above. Also would you be able to advise on what sort of power supply I would need as well.

Thanks Again

I would push the motherboard up to a A7GM and the chip up to a Brisbane. You will need a 500 watt power supply w/ SATA connections and a hard drive that accepts them. With what you have listed a 430 watt will work. It looks like a good budget system to me :)

Just realize these boards are really just good using the PCI express slot for a video card, or the other PCI slots but not both. Just the way it seems to me because there isn't enough room on the mini board. The boards come with integrated sound, Ethernet, and video so you can go either way. Video card or sound & Ethernet card or just use what the board provides. You just can't fit it all on there like a regular board.

What’s better about the A7gm is you can update the chip and add more ram latter to improve the system. The board you have listed really doesn’t have that option.

I would advise spending at least 170.00 on your V Card, and going no lower than this.

I would get an intel cpu and 4 gigs of ram.  I myself am using 2gigs of ram but I wish I had just gotten the extra 2.  Also, get vista.  I know, it has problems and most people are use to XP, but vista is where all the technology is headed so might as well get it now.

Im using a nvidia 9600gt for my vid card which cost me about $160 about 5 months ago.  I would go for the 9800gt now.  Also, make sure the fans you put on your computer are not stock and crappy.  Keeping your computer cool should be a very high priority, specially if you plan on overclocking your system.
