How much has this game changed?

I'm bored... really bored.

I'm downloading the AC2 14 day trial.  I want to know how much it's changed since Turbine got it back from Micro$oft.

I've played this game where there was total 500 people total... with all the servers as one... lol

God did the game suck then.

The crafting system, which was pretty good IMO, was completely redone. While it is nicer still - it wasn't an area that interested me all that much. Crafting folks like it though.

ATM, you still can't enter buildings - which hurts immersion IMO.

Graphics/sound are unchanged - but they were already high caliber.

Focus in gameplay has been modified to make power-leveling almost impossible. "Group" mobs can no longer be handled without a group. XP solo is naturally slower than in groups. Many classes were nerf'd to accomplish this.

Hero (a post level 45 accomplishment) has some nice abilities and is a key feature of the high-end leveling process. Another revamp is due in a month or so.

All critical bugs appear gone (I left because chat was dead... a MMO w/o chat is rather useless).

The rebuilding of Dereth via monthly updates is supposed to be taking place... substantially in October. In this players themselves build/craft/donate to help the towns recover. NPC vendors are also due.

Also in case you did not know, the ac2 trial you downloaded only contains the game updates from may 2004. It will not d/l the new game content any dates later until you become a paying member. As per Turbines Statement found on there web site.

The free trial download is all updates up to may 2004. You are incorrect tho on the paying member part.

The ONLY thing that you do not get in the free trial is the high resolution files. You download the trial, then when you start you will download all updates since then.

    Hm.

I did buy AC2 some month ago. I was quite nice - graphically, the rest of the game, except the crafting system was quite boring as far I am able to remember. I think I've tried it because I got bored of DAoC for a while... image

What kills me is how good the original AC was compared to the sequel.

In AC1 I could enter buildings and do lots of interesting things that are missing from AC2. THis makes no sense. All they had to do was make the same game just with better graphics and a few upgrades to the gameplay and it would have been a smashing success. Somehow instead they decided to make the POS that is AC2.

    Hehehe, np Sun...

Arkasi, they completely redid crafting. It is not as easy as before, but I dont mind it. I usually wind up spending most of my time crafting either spellbinding or mining.

Lots of new quests were created after the Turbine takeover.  However, there is still no landmass for post-Arramora players, and the nature of the game for levels 55+ has changed from a group game to a solo game (aside from big quests) so that players are switching to the new FOTM templates (raiders are currently most popular) to hunt in the new HOD solo area.  Crafting 2 is very controversial.  People either love it or hate it.  A lot of good thought went into the ultimate products though and butchering is a nice addition even for people who don't want to craft.

Playing AC2 for 36 months now, in general game didn't change that much. New quests and crafting system are Ok, allthough i liked the old craftig system, the new one has it avantages. Only thing that keeps bugging me is the lag, can't understand that Turbine isn't able to fix it.
