GameGuard isn't working under Windows 7 yet.

People using Windows7 are out of luck. Windows7 treats Gameguard as a security risk(as well it should).  Gameguard is required to run the spellborn. Why Aclaim picked such a poorly written, half baked security app remains to be seen.

There are MANY other legitimate options for game security.

    From the Gameguard wiki

    Windows 7

Due to GameGuards nature of hooking into core system DLLS, windows 7 does not allow for this type of execution. and games running GameGuard will display the splash screen and then crash with an error of error:0

Currently there are no known workarounds although some games such as Rappelz have created patches to remove GameGuard from the game.

GameGuard has stated that due to windows 7's beta status a patch is not yet in the making however once windows 7 has been released for sale a patch will ship.

i've read that the new version of gameguard does support windows 7, but TCOS uses an older version so it doesn't. until they update the gameguard version, playing on windows 7 isn't possible.

if the latest version of gamegaurd from March 23, 2009 works, how long untill we can expect the chronicle s of spellborn to fix this?

I don't know what's going on with my client, but I swear every single day I have to to "check files" before I can start the game, and if I alt-tab, I am crashing.  Sometimes when I just try to exit out of the game it crashes.  None of this is as bad as not being able to play, but I do feel your pain...

    Currently Playing: Aion
    Trying Out:
Retired: The Chronicles of Spellborn, EvE, LotRo, WoW, VG, AoC, CoX, RO
Waiting on: Blade & Soul, Black Prophecy, Global Agenda, The Agency, SW:ToR, T.E.R.A.
Working On: The 5th Dimension (coming soon)

    GameGuard for Win7 - Check

    TCoS for Win7 - Check

GameGuard & TCoS Updating Compatiblity for Win7 - Ehhh, not yet.

#3 is where the problem is

Both GG and TCoS WILL function under Win7

However it's the Update processes for both that aren't currently functioning under Win7

and no it's not GG's Fault on that one it'll happen soon as the Devs for TCoS figure out how to get it to communicate with Win7

I suspect its inherent permissions. These applications are difficult enough to debug without adding in an inherently insecure app like gameguard.  There are any number of better ways of dealing with legimate game security concerns.
