What is a capstone and where are prestige classes?

cynoncynon Member UncommonPosts: 42

As the post says what exactly is a capstone and are prestige classes in the game?  i have a feeling they are the same thing and roughly translate into enhancements/feats that you need to take as you progress...which to me sounds kind of lame.  I would apperciate it if someone can get back to me with any sort of haste :)

the reactivation window is open but want to know what im getting myself back into first.

This really is not WoW/EQ where Gear makes the man. Here in eVE, the man with biggest balls, willing to risk the most, will win. It is risk/reward here- not always wear best items 24/7 and beat the crap out of all else.

There is a couple of capstones planned but none has been introduced yet in the game as mod 9 need to arrive first, the capstones is basicly a reward you get for staying pure with your build, once you hit lvl 20 with your charcater you are granted this capstone (i am not 100% but i think it might include you spending an action point or something like that to get it). The capstones varies between classes ofc and some are better then others, but all are nice.

Prestige classes are granted to all characters that reach a sertain lvl of their class for example: Rng u pick the feats dodge, mobility and spring attack you can then access the tempes prestige class (at lvl 6 if u stay pure rng for 6 lvls ofc) wich costs 4 acton points, the prestige classes are under developemnt and you will be abel to evolve your characters pretige class as u lvl up but it will cost some action points to get it, this goes for all classes who have prestige clsses in the game and this will be implemented in module 9.

There is a number of different prestige classes planned and it is far from lame, this is where you have chanse to make your character even more special so enhancements way is a very nice to make it possible for people to custom their toons in what way they think is best even if it costs a couple of feats.

P.S Casters classes havent got any prestige classes yet (except bards) D.S

"Capstone" is a term used to refer to a level 20 enhancement. Each of them is a "oh, shiney" enhancement. Some of them are weak while others are powerful but it is clear that they tried to impress us each time. Currently, each lass has only one capstone but they plan to add more later on. Though, capstones will be mutually exclusive.

As for prestige classes, they are not yet in-game.

The developers have added Prestige Enhancements (PrE for short) to many classes, and will continue to add some. Dr.Rock has already listed those they plan on adding to you so I'll save you the trouble of having to parse the information twice.

PrE's are divided in three tiers. One at class level 6, one at class level 12 and one at class level 18. (Arcane Archer is the exception with a 6/9/12/15/18 progression.) While a class has multiple PrE's, a character can only have a PrE per class he has. Each of them is powerful and inspired from the PnP Prestige Classes (PrC for short).

They have yet to announce any PrC but if you look at the design of PrE's, you see they are leaving the door open to PrC's. It's to assume that there are more important priorities than PrC for now (new classes like druid and artificer, for example).
