    How popular is it?

um.... the same time connection records about 237k people

and market share propotion 24% (WOW has only 17% -0-;;;)

but not 'MOST' (the MOST is Maple Story the same time connection 250,000)

    or kartraider 230k

    or older records(about year 2002~2003?) crazyarcade 222k)

-fun-info : south korea population is only 48,000,000

-so, almost 1/200 people connect same time in Aion   lol

    but Aion makes much money

    every-each-month they sale 8bilions KRW ( = 5,930,318.15 dollors almost 6milion dollors)

--playNC say they will sale 100bilons KRW ( = 74,128,984.43 dollors , almost 74milion dollors)

    --and make a goal make sale 150bilions KRW ( = 111,193,476.65 dollors , almost 111milions dollors)

    and RMT market scale enormous

    so, Aion have major population.

Will it be a success in EU/US?

i think Aion has failed in 'Western nations'

because almost korean game is VERY EASY

do you know almost big game(DAoC or EQ or OL) in korea has failed? because these game is so hard for major 'light' user

so they make easier to major people to make money

    but.......L2 or L1 still alive

so, i can't exactly expect that

    p.s but i want aion to sucess in 'western' ^^;

    p.s2 other NCgames

L1 - the same time connection about 162k

L2 - the same time connection about 110k

aion - the same time connection  about 220k

total the same time connection in korea to NC

    =492k people.

    ..............wow.....

    This is very interesting.

I always found Lineage/Lineage 2 and Korean games much more easier than Everquest/Everquest 2 and DAoC.

Of course they are more grindy and require more time, but EQ(s) dungeons, raids, character development and group dynamics were much more deep and "harder".

So is it a fact? Korean players enjoy grind but prefer simple mechanics and easier gameplay?

many korean light gamer play 'game' not 'RPG'

that means they play the game

    1. forgot stressful problem

    2. talk to someone or another or party

    3. join in society (like guild)

many korean play 'MMO' not 'RPG'

they enjoy 'same interested man society' not 'play a role in fairytale'

p.s do you know that mean? i can't write anymore. (so difficult...T.T)

Well that makes sense.  It's the same reasons I play and thereby the points behind which I prefer the Korean gameplay style.   Also explains why the majority of the rendering is done to the avatar.  The person is the focus...  more so than the mechanics and the world.

Yes I understood, and it made a lot os sense...

In your point of view, Aion follow this pattern completely or not? If it does, it would indeed be a bit to shallow and easy for western players.

Simsimhada thanks very much for your replies.  I also like to play mmorpg's to socialize and relax (not a hard core gamer) and have played a few Korean games.  I look forward to playing AION and just enjoying the scenery.  And your English was good...at least good enough to get your points acrossed.

I have to ask....was WoW any different?

Although WoW is played alot in the West it was setup for the east....Just look at the numbers.

Now will Aion bring anything new to the table, most likely not, just some add-on's.

Again is that such a bad thing?WoW took the EQ model and made it easier for all player type's to access the game,Aion is now taking that same model and bringing it on a stage further.

I think you would have to have blinder's on to think this game will not be a hit when it does release in the West.

I guess we wont have long to wait to see if I am right with the release within the next 6 months.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
