DX10 and Xfire

SevenwindSevenwind Member UncommonPosts: 2,188

When I run the DX10 AoC it does not show up when I run Xfire. So if I run the DX10 part of AoC it is an entirely different client or what?

Well looking in the directory it shows two .exe files. So I guess we can start this argument about xfire numbers being misleading or something since it doesn't work when in DX10 mode.  haha

I kept hearing the xfire IM sound in game and couldn't get the window to display in game. The IM is the only real use I have out of xfire since I chat with friends while they play other games and vice versa.

Yea there is a seperate client for it. Maybe they will get it working with Xfire properly when they decide to fully integrate it.

they were working on DX 10  for how many months before and after release just to get it to the test server? Then it spent another 2 months I know of  and maybe three or more testlive before going onto the main servers. If it is not fully integrated by now damnifiknow when it will ever be LOL. They may have a final few tweaks left up their sleeves but they would not have put it out on the main servers unless they were convinced that is about as good as it gets.

Yea it is all about making it better and right first place than making sure it works with Xfire (3rd party software) straight of the bat right? Maybe if they had specific xfire events in the first place who knows. I can't even get normal xfire to work with the normal game, it crashes everytime at patcher since before and after release and I haven't a clue why.

Who is it up to to make Xfire work with the game, Xfire themselves with their updates or the games company?

    Straight forward easy answer there.

They put it on the live servers to get more hardware configuration studies back from feedback for better optimization. The only thing missing is performance tuning, plus HQ grass in area's of purple lotus swaps imo.

Seven already put a post up on Xfire as it is typical you see in its update process that they make their program work with the games.

EDIT: a mod gave her a reply:

"Xfire will still pick up that your playing the game but their overlay system is currently programmed in DX9 only. People have been requesting the ingame overlay for LOTRO since it got dx10 a year or so ago and it still hasn't been delivered"

    Go figure ")

One of us is missing the others point here I guess. I agree that it is XFire's problem on whether it sees AoC or not. However the point I was making is FC has been working on the  DX10 for a long long time now, exactly when will it be "fully integrated"?

You bring up LoTRO, looking in my Lotro folder there is only one lotroclient for DX 9 and 10 as near as I can tell. AoC uses two seperate clients, one for DX9 the other for DX10, or at least they did when I last played.
