Any dignity you had left after your conversation with CCP was lost when you made this post.

    CCP rocks.   EvE rocks.

    Good luck with your boycott.

Whatever the merits of his complaint... EvE is a serious drag.  Booooooooring.  Annoying players.  Ludicrously bad characterizations and writing.  Not a glimpse of what makes sci-fi interesting.  it would have been more honest to call the game Corporate Raiders, set it on earth, and have the avatars in 3 piece suits.  It's that fun.

Just be glad CCP gave you a way to escape the hell.

You still havent answered the question, "did you buy isk from money sellers?"

  • BlurrBlurr Member UncommonPosts: 2,155

The worst part is, EVE actually LETS you buy ingame isk with real money, if you use their system.

If you buy a game-time code from one of their online retailers (with real money), you're allowed to trade that code for in-game isk. They've even got a secure transaction form for it in the character account page.

So I guess CCP just banned you cause they didn't get their cut.

OP, you may have purchased your timecards from ISK sellers instead of legitimate timecard vendors.  If so, you probably got a discount price which should have been your first clue.

I know people who bought ISK from sellers and only punishment they got was illegitmate ISK was confiscated.  No ban, or other penalty.  It sounds like you might have rude, hostile or abusive, hence they tacked on extra time on to your initial 7 day ban.

Actually, in Iceland they probably don't have to be fair about their accusations, they can outright ban you and who can you really complain to? BBB of Iceland?

I suspect there's more to the story.

I actually had a friend suffer the same fate. He bought his time codes from Shattered Crystal, the same place I get mine. They are authorised to sell them. Anyway he was buying them and selling at a lower isk cost to those in his corp as rewards for PVP and mining ops using the website tools. CCP said that because of the rate of his activity he was a ISK seller, stuck all his accounts billions in the negative and refused to discuss the issue with him. The only way he can play now is to buy hundreds of dollars of time codes, sell them online at market rate.

I have no problem banning people for buying ISK outside of the process but I do take issue with CCPs extreme lack of transparency in dealing with the situations. They wont talk to you or allow you to apeal the issue. Your only chance to get your account back to a positive status is to buy MORE timecodes and trade them for ISK on their own website.

If they are going to charge you with a TOS voilation they should be able to provide proof and allow for an apeals process.

In another case,  a corp mate was killed by a person using an exploit. When he reported the exploit, CCP actually banned him. He had escalated the issue to a senior representative because he felt that the primary agent didnt help him. Shortly after escalating the issue his account was banned and the ticket closed with no response.

This was all before they put in the new player advocates but there has been a long history of stories like this. EVE has cheaters and lying CSRs running  rampant. Unfortunately some of the largest perps are actually the Devs. Its quite well known if you follow the game history or forums much.

Being that it is their game and all, dont expect any sympathy from CCP. It is their sandbox and they will do as they like and they do! They have a legacy of not giving a shit about the players, esp since subs jumped.

Yep its quite common for Eula breakers who get caught to come here to complain.

As always with these types of posts [like the OP's] im betting there is a lot more to it than hesheit is saying.

some of my friends and I purchased isk once before illegally (we were too ignorant to read they allowed it legally via time codes lol). A bunch of us got busted and they took away all the isk even if we spent it.

So we all went negative and had to work our way backup

We got what we derserved. I'm sure you did too. Just buy isk the legal way. After i bought GTC to climb up from negative account I've never needed to buy isk again. just had to learn to play smart I guess

no my friend. you are the cheat and you are the liar. screw you.

i love threads like this, im glad that ccp are doing something about the farmers and banning the buyers.

  • JowenJowen Member Posts: 326

    Pretty poor troll.

It is just about common knowledge that CCP does NOT ban people for buying isk, they simply remove it from your wallet with a good chance of putting you into the negative.

That's a much better punishment than a ban, because you can still play (and pay CCP for doing so), but getting out of the negative isk balance can be extremely hard.

I don't understand CCP's policy personally. I know Ill get attacked for posting this, but how can you possibly ban players for selling ISK when the company itself basically advocates this? Its just impossibly ridiculous to me, and from that point of view it seems CCP is very one sided on the issue, especially with the players being banned for not going through their outlet to get timecards. Really, if anyone has any qualms about this issue it should be fairly obvious this company knows what they are doing by going after the people who are buying tons of timecards (even legally) to try and siphon more money from them because they are addicted to the game and after a GM puts your account into massive negative amounts and the only way to get back into the game is by buying crap from them. Seriously, none of you see anything wrong with this? I've never seen anyone banned from this game for ISK buying, selling, cheating, exploiting yes. If you buy ISK though, you are a potential card buyer to them, so they won't ban you (you guys are using the term ban wrong here too, its called a suspension), no matter how many times the infractions.

This guy here should be a perfect example, not only did he likely buy ISK, but he contacts their reps and acts like a fool (cause they simply won't add 25 days to your ban just for laughs) He likely cussed or was acting like an ass to them and yet they didn't BAN him, simply suspended him for more days. Either way, its proof positive they aren't gonna ban you, but simply stick that hook out there for you to bite on again, except the hook is their company/game and you are the target addicted to the thing like crack.

  • JowenJowen Member Posts: 326

Maybe it is a bit one sided because CCP made the game and are hosting the servers with all the expenses that includes.

Would you allow somebody to make money using your facilities, but not giving you a share?

Also, CCP can monitor the impact and have an interest of not letting it go rampant and destroy the game. RMT companies have no such constrains. I much prefer the current system as I know RMT can't be completely stopped anyhow.

psst, it would always be safer to get your isk the easier way by: making a quick alt and joining the noob corps and let them hand you a few billion after you explain how dirt poor you are, then contract it to your main. OR mine/ haul ice (I know someone will coin that phrase sooner or later). A third route, would be to run a few lvl 4 missions with some noob corp members. Quick isk any way you look at it, and ALL OF IT IS LEGAL. I guess what I am saying is, don't buy isk when you can make quite a bit short-term if you just actually played the game.
