PC Graphics

in Final Fantasy XI

Has the graphical capability of the PC version been improved since release?  I played this game when it was first released on PC in the US for over a year, but haven't been back since. 

I know there are registry tweaks for view distance and such.  What I would like to know is if the PC version saw an improvement when the XBox 360 version was released, as I know they improved the graphics to make the aging game appeal to new customers.

    Nope. Need to use the tweaks still. Although as new expansions came out, the areas and cut scenes look better each time.

    I felt that after i used the tweaks the graphics were just fine.. originally it kept me from playing. but i think they are definitely up to par.

    Well personally; while you can make FFXI look damned impressive through PC tweaks....FFXI isn't about the graphics.  There is just so much rich content, lands and dungeons too explore and get lost in its incredible.  Then of course the story is beyond amazing, extremely well written and everytime you get to a point that unlocks a cut-scene your stuck with awe and of course major cliffhangers that make you pull lengthy all-nighters salivating for more....hehe

         I tried several tweaks and the game still looked like crap to me......Was definitely a gamebreaker.

    At the moment, no.  I get far too busy in the summer to do any mmo gaming.  I travel for work and only make it home once a month at best.  After that, maybe.  FFXI was a great game when I played it, and I can only imagine that it has gotten better over the years.

    I always use top of the line hardware, so I might be a little spoiled by eye candy from other games, but that doesn't mean that FFXI graphics are so outdated that I would refuse to play.  Though I have to admit that graphic quality does have a direct impact on enjoyability for me.
