It would make my day if this generated good revenue and turned the game around. I would love nothing more than to put all you rhetorical anti-rmters in your place.
But alas, this crappy wow clone just isn't gonna do the job. Guess I'm gonna have to wait for another day.

If you think the revenue from RMT is going back to VG I think you are fooling yourself bigtime. SOE will use that revenue elsewhere.
it's a shame because the world is gorgeous and well-built. but still to this day it has graphical glitches, like on vista you can't see rain effects and I was runniong the game at 1680x1050 with 8xaa/af everything maxed
it's truly a shame cause I would definatly play it if it had a dedicated team working on it..instead of just like 4 or 5 people
The way some folks on the official Vanguard forums are acting, you'd swear that LiveGamer comes into your house, kills your family, shoots the dog, and gives you terminal cancer before stealing your life savings and setting your house on fire. I've even noticed a blacklist thread of sorts over on Silky Venom, where some of the same folks are tracking every single transaction on LG, including which players are putting crafted items up for sale and what items they're selling.
I get that some people don't like RMT in their games. I understand that. However, SOE's been going in this direction for years and will only keep going that way with all their future games. Blacklisting players and acting like the sky is falling is entirely counterproductive. All it does is contribute to an environment of paranoia and mistrust. Those folks are better off just canceling their accounts and leaving the game if they feel so strongly about it.
It's just on one server so who cares? EQ2 have 2 servers like this too, if you like it play on them, if not, who cares?
The RMT shops in EQ2 is a worse concern, I was really upset about those in the beginning, until I saw that it was just junk that had little or none effect on the gameplay. Now I am still slightly irritated about them but don't care too much.
Why would this make a differance? All Vantard has ever been is a money making ponzy scheme, and a hollow shell of a EQ2.5 game with more bugs than a termite mound...

You make it sound like it's just so simple to leave a game that you played for years and love so much, particularly after seeing some real improvements and an increase in population numbers.
Frankly, some of us get really invested in our chosen MMO, as it should be I think. We don't just hop from one to another looking for a quick fix and a one-night stand.
Unfortunately our society has entered a phase where loyalty, hard work, and dedication are taking a back seat to quick, short term rewards for little work. It should not be surprising that this sort of thing has entered the gaming world as well.
Wow, this is a real shame. Maybe if Vanguard had an actual dev team and not a couple of interns (that's what it feels like anyway) then they wouldn't need such absurd money making schemes.
Say what you will about RMT, but there's no doubt that this cash shop has damaged the community.

I could argue that is due to people playing games (and comparable things) 24/7.
I find it odd to mention such a demand when it comes to actual gaming though. Gaming world more serious than the real world.
There is something called LiveGamer Watch on the Silky Venom forums. This helps the community self-police by making sure anyone using LiveGamer is publically known. This is similair to what we did on EQ1 on the Prexus server, basically calling out people that engage in RMT.
Looks like there is almost zippo going on with LiveGamer. I hope it dies a horrible death and gets pulled of the VG servers. The community is against it and if it is ignored hopefully SoE will see the light and yank it. There's got to be a cost to maintain it and if it generates no revenue then the best business decision would be to pull it off the servers.

Actually it's being forced on all servers.
Also it's different that the EQ2 RMT in that you can sell ingame crafted/dropped equipment, coin, and characters.

Ironic...
Loke666 was talking about Vanguard when he said only 1 server was gettin RMT. I was responding to that.
It still sucks that they do this but if they limit it to certain servers on all theri games then there will still be servers that don't have it which is what i'd prefer to see.

The first time soe tried this their original plan was to put station exchange on every current server for eq2. They asked for the opinion of the users and it was overwhelmingly against it so they were 'persuaded' to only put station exchange on brand new servers and soe did not get the results they were hoping for. If I recall right one of the two servers
Since then, soe has simply stopped asking for their players opinions and just implement their virtual sales into their games on every server so as to not make the mistake they did with eq2 and station exchange. They pay a little lip service to the effect of listening to their players feedback... as long as it is contained in one thread they specifically set up (which is typically deleted several months down the line which removes all the negative postings about the situation). Any postings they find outside of that thread are typically moved to the single thread or deleted.
End result is that it will be on all the vanguard servers just like they put RMT on every server for other rmt system in their other games.

You haven't been paying attention then, because its been discussed on several threads here the past few weeks.
Its not the end of the world, nor will it really revitalize the game either.
VG will never reach its full potential, you either play it for what it offers or play something else.
I recommend the 2nd option.

To add more fuel to the RMT fire, I've read DCU will have an item shop.
