Some good links people might enjoy on things I never experienced but always looked for them after having read about them in EQ.

http://www.notacult.com/fansythefamous.htm   a story about Fansy the Famous Bard.  Man I would have loved to meet that bard.

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-72711.html  A story dealing with a true and arrogant newb that bought their chracter.  I loved this one too.

5.(World of Warcraft)-Finally getting my first mount, and riding him around till i was blue in the face.

4.(Star Wars Galaxies)-Laying down my first house in the game, and surrounding it with my harvesters.

3.(Guild Wars)-Beating my first campaign on my first character. The feeling of accomplishment on the time I put into the game.

2.(Star Wars Galaxies)-Seeing all of the characters from the movies playing out in the game, like i was in the movie.

1.(Star Wars Galaxies)-Sitting in my first meeting in my first guild ever. There was over 50 people sitting in chairs like you were in a school lecture. Some chairs made by me. The officers were sitting in the front facing the guild. An officer would walk up to the podium in the middle and talk about certain issues. Than he would sit down and the next one would talk about another issue.

Though I played alot of MMOs, my best memories come from early days of WoW. I was an active PvPer and killing people around Azeroth pefore even honor system was implemented... well, it was great fun. First MC runs were also cool.

MMO's nowadays are too safe and easy to provide good stories (least the ones ive tried).  No consequences equal no tention.  The original EQ was, on the other hand, more like a saditic school master with a liberal additude on corpral punishment so most of my interesting stories come from there.

    1.  Kurn's Tower (EQ, Necromancer).  Kunn's was a large tower at one end of the field of bones, something like 5 floors of undead of arround level 15 or 20 if I remember correctly.  Tried to find a good spot to camp in one day when it was packed and all the regular spots were taken and setteled on the dinning room at the very top.  This turned out not to be a good idea and I was soon forced to run while screaming "Train to Zone" and taking every wrong turn I could on the way.  End result, I probably trained most of the upper floors down to the enterance.  Around 3 full groups of players plus some odds and ends decided to ignore my warnings probably figurning I only had 4 or 5 skellies on me.  Was more like 30.

    2.  Travel in EQ.  I was an Iksar and a necromancer.  I was hated by everyone outside of Cabilis.  There was almost no safe haven for me outside of Kunark, almost no merchants, no bank, and all the guards wanted to kill me.  If I wanted to catch a boat it genrealy ment I had to sneak into an enemy city and find a safe place to hide near the port until one showed up to stow away on.  The world was huge and on foot it could take hours to get from Cabilis to the nearest good hunting spot (think It was Freeport).  In the early days befor travel got eazy people were surprised to see an iksar anywhere beyond Freport, especialy below 20th level.

    3.  Crystal Caverns (think that was the place).  Me and a mage friend wandered to the top of that place to a good pull spot.  The place wasnt a cavern so much as a tall room full of ice bridges so if you weren't careful you could slip off and fall to your death.  Unfortunatly, this is exactly what my pet did as soon as I summoned him at the top.  To add to the misfortune, he didn't die.  Instead he fell to the bottom, decdied that gravity and pathing was for the birds and shot  straight back up to the top somehow agroing EVERYTHING on the way back.  Everything ment the spiders who decided to follow my pets example and came boiling up from a crack in the floor like a poisoness fountain.

    4.  Planetside.  I didnt get to play this long befor the population started dieing unfortunatly but it was the best MMOFPS (only sofar I think).  Never got to do half the stuff I would have liked in that game but between Galaxy drops, tank colums, running AA at a bridge battle and shelling the crap outa people in a Lighting (personal favorite) it was nothing but fun.  Amost the first day I found myself part of a huged force trying to take a well defended enemy base.  I spent most of the battle helping to hold a ridge that provided a great vantange point for our artilery against their ground and air.

    5. WoW.  The only story I have from there was befor the devs ripped the testicles off of Alterac Valley.  The game used to be a 40 on 40 slugfest where victory went to the most orginized.  It could take an hour if done right or 22 hours if you had a bad group.  Sure Alterac Valley was extremly flawed but you could get some sirious pitch battles in there where individuals could make a difference.  Once at a near stailmate I, a druid, steathed up behind the enemy lines to drop my single aoe on them hoping to sow a little confusion for a push.  To my surpise 2 or 3 friendly mages had seen me and managed to follow.  The resulting aoe slaughter fest combined with a push from our lines was a sight to behold.

Honnorable mention.  Got to mention the Naked bug from old EQ.  The devs screwed up when they upgraded the engine and for probably 6 months a large precentage of the popualtion found their gear didnt show on them and neither did their underwear.  This is all well and good when you group with topless female barbarians but the naked ogres and trolls were a joy killer.

AC: Died once running by a pack of Jelloes in VOD. WEnt back for a corpse run and died again. 3rd time died again. Was left standing in my underwear at the Lifestone and started bawling. Waited till my brother got home at 5- called him crying and asked him to get my armor off my 3 bodies because he had DSL and I was on dial up AOL LOL! He thought I was joking when I said I had 3 corpses and he couldn't stop laughing when I told him twas the truth! I was age 38 when that happened:)

LoTRO: Hearing a player play "Dust in the Wind" on his lute made me cry. Was so beautiful and he was playing by hand- before they introduced the ABC cheat files for music. Hearing another lady named Elianor play "Tea House Moon" was equally as moving. Sounded like angels in heaven.

AC: Dev was at the PK hill in Ayan and he spawned whatever monsters we asked for! Was SO DANG COOL! DEcember 26, 2006

AC: Standing at our mansion when we lost a member of Alliance in RL back in 2004. We had a funeral and seeing all of us on bended knee in our finest clothing made a strong memory.

AC: Getting the best villa in all the land. I parked a toon at it for a year till it came up available. I was on a mountain top with winding rivers to the left and right. Was stunning!!

    Reanimating great thread.

Anyone could name some MMO events that stood out and were very unique. Like that Lord British kill in UO or record sale in Entropia. Always fun to read about such

EQ1 - The first time I walked past West Freeport into East Commonlands and seeing the vast forest... The things that lie beyond and the people I will meet. Walking further into the forest and finding two other players casting spells on a bear. Absolutely amazing. First MMO Experience.

Phantasy Star Online - I don't really know if this is an MMO but it plays just like Guild Wars so I assume it is. My first time grouping with a bunch of other people and adventuring together through the stages.

Planetside - Joining the first huge massive battle at some tower. I grouped up with 7-8 people in a room together defending it to the death. We talked a bit as we waited for new waves of other players to come at us but we prevailed.

EQ1 - Going to the East Commonlands tunnel for the first time and watching everyone talk/trade.

EQ1 - Entering Lake of ill Omen for the first time and grouping up with other people. I was a warrior but didn't know I was supposed to taunt enemies so I was in this group fighting sarnaks and they were wondering why I wasn't holding aggro.. I learned.

    Current MMO: WoW/GW2
