How is the PVP and character creation?

Hi, I just ordered the game,  it will be at my house friday but I got a few questions

How exactly does the character creation/leveling work?

How does the PVP system work? How do you get to do PVP?

Is the combat (Plan to make a meelee character) boring? Or can is it pretty intense?

On a scale of 1-10 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how is the leveling grind.

What is the in-game music like? Is it corny or is it nice? (This goes along with sound effects)

Are there alot of items in the game? If I pick meelee will I be able to choose from many types of weapons, and many different types of the same weapon?

Sorry if these are alot of questions but i'd really like to know. I got a month free so hopefully i'll be staying ;).

    Well basically character creation is pretty simple, a bit too simple in fact but genreally most characters still look different from their armour etc.. PvP at the moment is just requesting to fight someone then dueling although there are events such as tonights fight night that have been organised for the aren where it's a tournament. Large scale pvp will be getting implemented within a few weeks.
    The combat I find is seriously intense altohugh you really want t be in a guild and fighting in a team to enjoy it to the max. Contact Joffy in game if oyur interested in a guild::::18::
    Levelling is really quick and easy and you don't really notice it once you get into the game, within 2 evenings i was level 30 fight. Ingame music is basically non-existent until the first patch in a week or so's time but it's not too bad listening to the sound effects. There are a ridiculous amount of items and customisations available in game, suffice to say you won't get bored easily::::04::

    Actually, compared to most MMORPGs out right now, Ryzom's character creation is really good, well, character looks, not stat/jobs. The character creation lets you pick the sizes of the things on the face, some races have eye color, some have tatoo color, hair styles, mask styles, muscle sizes, width, face width, eye width, heighth... etc.

    FFXI- Quit after 10 months
    Ultima Online- Quit after 25 months
    Ragnarok Online- Quit after a week

    i play on australian servers because racism is acceptable there

    I just bought the game, even if i wasn't convince by the beta, and guess what... i discovered a new game !!

    Regarding the character creation, you have a lot of choice : size of nose, eyes, chin etc. every part of the face and body is customizable. Plus you can have tatoos on your face.

    Regarding the PvP you have duel (for free or for a specific item), PvP arena, and Guild versus Guild !! Plenty of room if you want to pvp.
