Population of TCoS

During my free trial I've really been noticing a lack of people. Am I way behind everyone who's playing, or does the game simply not have many players at all? I'm on the PvE International server (can't remember the name of it) and I have seen maybe a couple messages in the Zone chat here and there. I'm also quickly finding that I kind of need a group to get things done in Aldenvault, as I am unable to take on three guys at once.

There are a lot of things to take into consideration here...

    The time you usually play.

The fact that many people mute zone chat, and stick to guild and house chat.

Plus....Aldenvault always seems oddly subdued. Don't know why this is.

Ok...I gotta ask...what gimped class are you playing that can't handle 3 mobs at once?????

Prolly should also include the fact that most intelligent people dont pay subscriptions when a game is in open beta...

The game is not. The servers are. There will be no character wipe, or box fee at U.S. release.

I'd rather pay to play now than wait, personally.

To be honest, the "newbie rush" to see something new has died down and most of the players are in the aldenvault areas or Quarterstone as the majority of the game takes place out and around there. That being said, there are some fairly solid groups together and guild politics are in full swing.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

Yep, the first wave of 'beta' people have either levelled up through the first zones, got into guilds and need OOC chat less, or know more about the game and need to ask less questions.

The next wave will be incoming when the game goes 'live' and the game sites and mags throw reviews out there and the general gaming population is made aware of this great game.

I personally would be using this quietish lull in the middle to be levelling an alts through the 'Freemium' (how I hate that word...) areas without listening to a looped conversation of 'Why isnt this WoW!1??!!' and 'Wherzz Dalehertz!??' ;)

I think he is talking about the EU International Server.

And yes, the EU servers are a ghost town. Thanks to their IP Ban screw up months ago.

And as there is only a one way immediate redirect to Acclaim, and Acclaim not doing an immediate redict back to the EU site. The EU servers are screwed lol.

    Sad, but true.

Youre on the european client I assume? yeah, its a ghost town. mainly people are playing on the acclaim ones,

The game itself is quite nicely polished for a beta, however, the part which pertains to registration is a disaster. There are 404 errors all over the European site: most notably, neither the client download nor the register pages would open. Even the American equivalent is severely bugged. I had to ask an American comrade of mine to register me there, since the registration confirmation button was simply freezing down whenever I pressed it, both in Firefox and IE.

That being said, the international PvP server is fairly densely populated, and the general chat is always busy. Perhaps the complex registration process even helps keep the mentally deficient types out.

I must be. My options for servers were labeled as being French, German and International. Is there a different client I should look into?

Lol ya okay that would explain it. The Acclaim servers are MUCH busier.

goto spellborn.acclaim.com and download the client from there/register.

13 Euros. Convert from there to whatever currency you'd like.

The population has increased significantly over the past couple days in the new player area.

population boom going on in TCoS atm for sure

But could always use more ppl to get in there and level up and play

  • JeroKaneJeroKane Member EpicPosts: 7,098

At least the maintenance is a lot better on the EU ones. Faster updates and such.

  • aithieelaithieel Member Posts: 232

It's cheaper in US then ;|. I just download both clients and check out both servers.

the EU international servers suffered a lot from of the IP block and how the distribution countries where divided. actually, europe was split in half regarding server access.

there is a server merge hinted, but no data yet how and when. would probably help the community as a whole. the us-launch should boost the numbers in the old country a bit too tho. ;)
