Hi, I have been reading up on EVE and would like someone who plays to give me some general info about the game, like what kind of cool and unique features the game has. Any info about it that might make me decide to give it a whirl would be helpful. I browsed their forums a little and the subject of crime caught my eye. What is that exactly and what other things can you tell me? Basically give me a sales pitch and tell me the angles and why I should give the free trial a go! Thanks.

eve is a game of spaceships and setbacks, its a sandbox where you have the freedom to do what you want, and so does everyone else. this makes it a sink or swim environment where those who cant hack it are quickly ripped apart.
eve is slower paced than most games, full looting ensures that people play with caution, and you'll find the combat is very cerebral, its not a button masher, rather it caters to the strategic planner.
give the free trial a go, dont expect it to hold your hand and point you to the next dungeon and see what you think.
Button mashers get old so that part intrigues me. So is solo play possible or do you need groups for a good deal of this game?
its possible to solo, but its a challenge. lots of people prefer to "blob up" and grab as many people as they can to make the fight less risky. even if you never intend to join a fleet, joining a good corp is essential once you finish the trial and subscribe. friends make eve shine, even if you solo all day long.
Someone PM'd me asking if I wanted a code to try out EVE and I would, but have not gotten response. Anyone else have one they want to shoot over to me?
Solo is very possible, even with low SP but until you have some understanding of the game,id find some people to fly with in pvp, personaly learned most of my pvp experience threw solo, but I am a fast learner.
The important things that determine the victor in a 1vs1 or you vs more situation in pvp is (by importance):
1.Game Knowledge and pvp experience
2.Knowing the ship you fly,it's weakness and strong points
3.Haveing intel about what is going on in the area (this does not fall soo much in the solo category but it still is in it,need to know if you are a pirate or anti pirate that the X ship you want to kill isnt bait)
EVE is very complex and it's hard to learn everything, ive being playing for afew years and still dont know everything, like how to setup and run a POS (player owned station),what moons are good etc.
Appreciate the advice. This game sounds more intriguing by the minute.
This is probably going to sound strange but don't be intimidated when you try it either.
Eve is a VERY complex and deep gang, and it takes a while to really learn the game. Just getting a feel for it as a new player can take several days, if you're lucky.
The best way to go is just to find a group of people to play with. Solo play IS possible, but it's also very challenging, as was mentioned above.
That said, if you want any help or have questions, feel free to contact me as well if you have questions. Name is Zyck in game.
I have a question as well but instead of making a new thread ill just tack it onto here.
I have played eve before and am just recently coming back. I was curious about the wormholes. How do I go about finding them? Are they constant or does one pop up every few hours or so?
You have to scan them down with the new probing system. They aren't all that hard to find once you get used to the system, and can probably find one in a half hour or less of searching once you get the hang of the system.
They collapse after a certain amount of time passes, or the mass limit is breached (how much mass can travel through them). So generally you won't find the same one twice after a day or two.
So i need to buy something to search for them?
Yes, you need a core probe launcher with core probes, and the skills to use them, though they're pretty basic.
