If you knew nothing about this game....

If you had never heard of Darkfall and it suddenly came out today in its current state would this forum be any different? Are all the negative verses positive posts just because the pre-hype promises were never full-filled?

If this game landed unexpectedly in our laps while eating a sandwich and we went wtf is this? Installed and logged in would we be awestruck with our find? I wonder.

I would have found out in a few min and still wouldn't have played it!   ...and yeah the forums would still be the way they are because of the type of PvP gameplay it has regardless of hype or content!

I'll be honest.. No.  I would have done a little research to see what Darkfall was about (Ie, if I'd never heard of it).  I would have then gone out and tried to buy a copy.  I'd probably spend a lot less time flaming Aventurine and Tasos, because their bullshit wouldn't have been shoved down our throats a bout how great Darkfall is/was for the past 8 years.

I mean, hell, the game looks good on paper, and Tasos is great at selling lies..

I would have taken one look at the official forums, and had seen that one average, the posts are bad signs. Then i would have looked at the responses to postings, and the quality of the community, and walked away.

I can always gauge the state of the game by the threads on the first page of the official forums.

First you'd have to play the f5 game to get an accoutn and thus you'd prolly give up after a day or two.

There is no sensible reason to buy an account until they make another serv where all the alliances were build via macroing and hacking.

If I had only just now heard of Darkfall,

    • I'd check out the features list on the overview page and be reasonably impressed.
    • I'd google for the official website, go to it,  be disappointed by it's dated design, but be excited by all of the features Aventurine touts
    • Next, I'd try to figure out how to buy the game and discover there's no link and it's almost impossible to get
    • etc...

I try to go in every game without preconceptions. Its hard to do these days, I know

    Good question.

I probably would have bought the game asap. Then when I realized I couldn't buy the game I would've given up on it completely. However, the game has peaked my interest because of the hype and I am willing to give the game 6 months before I give up on it.

If I had just heard about Darkfall today?

I would have gone to the official site and read about features that are not in the game, then I would have registered for the beta that is advertised on the front page of the official website.

Then, when someone corrected me and said most of the features described on the main website aren't part of the game and that the game is currently live and not in beta... I would have run away from any company that is so unprofessional as to still have a completely inaccurate and out-of-date website for their own game.

I would have to say a def. no.

If i just found out about this game the first thing I would do (like any game) is research the heck out of it.  I would go to the main site and then look at any reviews.

The site hasn't been updated forever, the forums are probably the worse I have ever seen over there in terms of narcissistic behavior and the idea of a small greek US to Greek VHS movie producer producing a video game would have me simply looking elsewhere.

I dont think there was anything about the game that sparked my interests. Nothing that is actually in the game at least

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

There are many, many faulties of this game and If I had bought it in belief that I would have a good time, Id be wrong.

I wouldve watched 1 or 2 vids and then came to the conclusion that they want me to pay as much as a full retail game for this crap. No offense to the ones playing it, its unique and if you like that kinda game fine by me but dont expect me to play it.

Also to add the amounts of whining threads Ive read bout the game would make me more cautious. The even thought of cheating ingame is for me totaly unacceptable. That is something that shouldve been fixed in the alpha stage and should by no means exist in a released game, its a shame to have done so but I figure they didnt have much of a choice because of economical reasons. I figure that the lack of customer service, problem setting up new servers and the most obvious "limited sales".

I believe that the game wasnt meant to be released in it current state but they was either forced to quit or sell what they already had, they had/have the fundamentalists. To be fair DF community have been waiting for so long it wouldve taken anything (same goes for AoC but I figure this case is worse).

I was going to include a comment about the beta button, too, but it's been removed (finally)
