In my experiance I found that both WoW & EQ2 have alot of emos in them. Especially if your in the General world chat your going to meet alot of powergamers (People that take the game too seriously), and adults acting like kids on there. All you have to say in EQ2 chat is ... "World of Warcraft is a great game." You will have 20 people whispering you calling you names, and how much of a worthless waste of space you are at that very moment and arguing amongst each other about wow for the next hour. I don't even like WoW, but it's always funny to see how nieve, and ignorant some people can really be in these games.
Lets face it without any context you say something like that in any game and you are frankly just trolling and you will get called out for it. This doesn't have anything to do with how good the community is. Try asking something like how do I clear my hotbar or does anyone know where XX named is for a quest update or can someone help me in dungeon xyz and you will get a better idea of how the helpful the community is.

I have to agree. It's not a logical argument to say that because someone attempts to create a disruption and the disruption occurs, the community is a bad one.
Heheh, lets look at this. You had a bad experience with a few people in game and you came here to whine about it. That puts you in a certain position doesn't it?
What i mean is. Normally, if i meet some moron in a game, i /ignore said moron. But you come over to MMORPG.com and talk shit about the whole community. Thats alot of players if you didn't notice. That says alot about you too tbh.
I dont play EQ2 anymore but i would never say that the community is bad. The community does not like Drama Queens like the OP but say one mmo where thats not the case.
I myself had a pretty decent experience in eq2 with the community, despite the fact that I was playing on nagafen. It seemed to compair welle nough to the community on any pvp server in any game.
Still, if that was bad, what is good? Because it was on par with my experience with wow communities. So how good can the community really get? I have to say I'm impressed....
also, what servers have the best communities? I plan on playing again soon, so it'd be nice to know what server to check out in terms of community.
They are the complete opposite of wow, they are older waaaaaaaay more conservative and generally untolerant of ppl they think will ruin thier game or attempt to challenge any view they have of thier "perfect" world. That said I played wow for a period of 4 months about 2 years ago so I am not a wow fanboy before you flame me. I used that just as an example of a generally accept "bad" community. In reality I believe eq 2's community is equally as bad in a different way.
This is an older thread, so sorry for necroing it up, but there were some things about the OP's post that I didn't really see addressed in the rest of the thread that I was curious about.
spiveslude, if you're still reading and would be so inclined, I want to ask you some things. First, what do you mean by "conservative"? Yes, I know what the word means, but give an example of what happened to you in the game that lead you to proclaim the attitude as conservative. Also, regarding being "untolerant" [sic], and presumably protective of the game, what did you say or do to challenge their own perceptions of the game?
All stories have multiple sides, and you've made some interesting claims. I'd just be interested in hearing the context.
