To sum this game up in one word, I would use "inconsistent".
There is absolutely nothing you can count on staying the same from one patch to the next. Class abilities change, class focus/roles change, equipment changes (retroactive even), CS items change (not just item availability, but value changes on standard items), combat system changes, etc. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is sacred or dependable.
The game itself isn't bad. I rather like it in general. It has gradually become less fun as everything I was building has been skewed by wild development changes. However, I would still say it's one of the best F2P games available. The thing is, who is willing to stick around and invest time into a character when they know it will likely go from day to night as fast as the next patch rolls around? How do you even make a decision on a class to compliment your play style when that class' role may change over night? Why would I form groups to conquer bosses and acquire specific loot when that gear will be stealth nerfed in a future patch? What would encourage me to select a specific build for my character when all the skills I choose to utilize might be useless after an update (basically forcing me to buy a skill reset and change styles to be efficient again)? Most of all, why would I spend money in the CS unless I know what I'm buying?
The answer to these questions is "I would not".
I would still encorage people to give this game a try, but I will be hanging it up until some standard of consistency is reached.

I actually agree with you on this. It does get frustrating at times. I can't tell if it's strictly Runewaker (and who know who they listen to for game design changes) or if Frogster has a hand in it. I do have to give Frogster some credit for listening to us and passing some of our concerns on to the devs to fix (such as the missing Grace stats). Even though the game has released, it's still very much going through major growing pains. I'm still confident that it will settle down and stabalize, but if not, at least it didn't cost me anything but my time, which I would be spending playing something else anyway, so no big loss.
However, RoM is not at all unique in this area. I still remember the times Blizzard completely reworked Hunters, Warriors, and Druids and the significant changes to talent trees which totally shifted the role of each one, and having to respec into a tree I hated just to maintain similar effectiveness. Playing a Hunter as my main was an absolute rollercoaster ride as each patch was released and is a primary reason I quit. I just couldn't count on my class playing the same from patch to patch and I wasn't about to keep paying Blizzard to play ping-pong with it. Mythic did the exact same thing with Warhammer after it was released.
In general, I agree with you, too. I'm a big proponent of having test servers so that the players can adequately test changes, especially major ones, and provide feedback. That being said, IMO, the % of players who provide quality feedback/constructive criticism is very low compared to the percent of players who just want to see new stuff, be the first to find exploits, complain about 'zomgwtfbbqsauce /butthurt' etc... Still, a test server is much better than 'surprise Nerf of the Month (or week, as the case may be).

Looks like more of the same from Runewaker. Apparently they've decided to 'fix' a 'bug' that has been present since CB (about a year ago).
forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php
To anyone who isn't aware of what this change could mean, it could be a 15-20% loss of efectiveness to the upper echelon players gear. Many players have farmed high durability gear to gain these bonuses. They have invested countless hours, gold, and, in some cases, diamonds to build the perfect gear set.
Veterans have posted in help topics advising new players to focus on higher durability items, with no comment from the dev team. Crafters have openly discussed the high durability items as being the only productions of any worth, again, no comment from the dev team. The RoM official forums have literally been peppered with comments and entire threads devoted to this game mechanic, with no comment from the dev team.
Now, nearly a year later, the dev team wants to weigh in that this is actually a bug (not an intended game mechanic) and they intend to fix it. Blatant omission does not excuse such action.
Inconsistency is the only thing consistent from Runewaker. I've said it before and I'll say it again, RoM is a decnt F2P MMO, but I wouldn't give them a nickel until these types of changes are non-existent.
*edit*
Looks like the responses from the community encouraged Runewaker to reconsider this 'fix'. Recent comments from the dev team give the impression that this game mechanic will not be changed after all. Good decision Runewaker.
Yeah people are pretty up-in-arms about that announcement, which came out of left field from Runewaker (not Frogster). However, I think people are also overreacting and playing the "chicken little" card too quickly because right now we have no details on what the "fix" is. For all we know, existing gear will remain the same and future drops will just be below 100 durability. We also know this will boost crafting (which is a good thing) since crafted items will be able to produce items with some type of bonus.
So stay tuned and let's see how it pans out before getting all bent out of shape over (potentially) nothing.
ok im sorry if i have to correct you
yest they boot over all 100+dura buff bonus of +20%
but what you didnt not mention and THIS VERY IMPORTANT
player all around the world could not find any reason to level up crafting for armor and weapon
and frogster did say they were sorry for not seeing their flaw faster
but this means that all crafted item with 100+dura will have buff 5% if it hasnr been corrected
witch in most player mind make big sense
some might be infuriated by this but imagine the guy that leveled crafting and was same as non crafter it wasnt fair lol
i agree with frogster completelly this will make crafting very valuable now even if they had to lower it to 5% instead of 20% i guess
player will really have to ¸+more their gear if they want to reach end game witch was the idea all along
some could skip it but with a 20% drop or just 15 % if you craft it will make +gearing mandatory
20% is a huge dps drop ,if you did 1000 dps you just dropped to 800 lol
i can say there will be a lot of howling
my beef isnt the fact it was a mistake its ok.
my beef is against frogster post
why does frogster take a huge amount of time to post error or patch note
if they find an error they should write a note as soon as they find it on their forum
no it doesnt need to be corrected this week or this year lol but knowing it ensure
that player dont feel like frogster is killing dps just because they didnt sell x,y,z item
thats how it looks to player right now
if they kept their forum sticky about game a little more frank and uptodate
player wouldnt be as annoyed as they are right now
by the way i still love the game this will be my game fix for the next year probably unless blizzard goes in beseark mode and impress like they have a tendency to do when competiton shows up
i beta aion and im sorry
this game isnt for me
once the upgrade in august are online and the nexct month expension come online rom will be a better and funner game
then most of the aaa title coming out
but its still an mmo so everything you do in that game takes time like wow, likw aion ,like war etc
