Italics borken?

Italics for the "friendly edit" option is broken. When I type in this post and use italics it shows as being italics in the text box here, but when I actually look at the posted post it isn't italic at all.
Haven't tried to old BBL version because I'm a lazy pain.
version stuff: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032609 Firefox/3.0.8 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
