long time healer/tanker in MMOs here, thought i would finally give FF11 a try now that i can do so for free. ive been sitting here playing for awhile and questions keep popping up in my mind.

1:  is the population dwindling or did i just pick a bad server? it seems like the starting zones were empty to me and thats bad for a white mage lol

2: when i was playing WoW i remember the horror stories from the refugees, said there was alot of hacking and CGF farming going on and that SE wasnt doing much if anything at all to combat them. was i misinformed or did they finally get their act together?

3: not that id ever do this as im a PC guy but i was curious, if i did buy an xbox 360 copy of the game after playing it on the PC would i need to start over or could i use my PC account there?

While the population of the game is still alive and well, the starting areas are somewhat empty. Besides Odin, I think it's like that for every server. What server are you on? Also, try doing a "/sea all" command without the quotes, next time you're on. Servers usually have around 2k-3k people on them during normal hours.

They got their act together big time. They have a thing called "The Special Task Force" solely dedicated to the removal of hackers, RMT, and exploiters in the game. They are really good at what they do, too. If you look at some of the reports shown by TSTF, you'll see how many people are getting banned due to the above reason every so often. Billions of illegitimate gil gets taken out of the circulation, keeping the economy somewhat stable, while thousands of hackers, RMTs, and exploiters get banned as well.

Accounts are universal. You can use a PC account on the Xbox 360, an Xbox 360 account on the PS2, and a PS2 account on the PC.

thanks for the replies, as to what server im on i rolled a tarutaru white mage on alexander simply cause he was always my favorite summon in the SP games. i thought for a sec that i rolled on a ghost town cause i didnt see anybody else in the starting zone and i was having a hard enough time as is soloing as a healer at level 1 lol. i wasnt sure about this but i thought id ask to see if i had to reroll onto a server with a healthier population, not like ive done much anyway so far.
