where is everyone?

Ive been playing for a few weeks now, and one thing im noticing is that every area I go to seems to be pretty much dead. Aldenvault had a few people in it whilst I was there, but Hoggs, QS and even Hearth are just barren. Tonight, I saw 1 other player in Hearth. Where the hell is everyone? Does the pop gradually pick up at any point? Im on the Acclaim pvp server btw.

I think it's just that the first big wave of players has now passed these zones, and most don't want to level up an alt yet while that content is still fresh in their heads. All you have now are dribbles as people discover the game and start it, and there is a lot of zone for them to get lost in so it seems empty.

This game needs to go officially Live tbh, and it needs promotion and 'real' reviews from respected gaming sites and mags to get the P2P people aware of it.

At the moment, the player base is pretty much limited to 1) long term followers, 2) Acclaim's F2P mail list who are interested in a P2P game, and 3) those that have stumbled across it. The majority of these people have known about the game since the 'Beta' launch and have either decided the gamk isnt for them or have levelled to 25+ by now.

Outside this this tiny niche, the world is still oblivious to SB, so there is no new blood coming through right now.

I would love to play but when I walk in to my local gaming stores I don't see any Chronicles of Spellborn boxes for sale.  That is typically how these games are sold.  Alternatively, I don't see a link that allows me to download the NA client and sub, much less play a free trial.

Well go to acclaims main site and they have a link to the download and account set up I believe there are links on the gamelist on this site too, Thats easy. I agree with Ves that the population has gone down a bit, It is still a game worth checking out.

I think part of the problem is the game is still considered in "beta" and many people aren't going to start playing until the official release.

Most people are unaware that this game is even open to play right now, I didn't for quite a while till I decided to check these boards.

Also many players simply play the game up till 7, and are also waiting for "official release" to save some money since acclaim coins are rather expensive.

Eh? I have been playing this game for over 3 weeks now and I can tell you that there are quite many people in QS and Hearth now compared to back then. Gone is the time where you could have most nodes and mobs for yourself. And I play in the EU hours.

If you get on to US prime time things get crowded.

What time zone do you play in?

First of all, i really liked the idea of TCoS and followed the game for quite a while.I also checked into the beta every now and then back in the days when even the beta was barely playable.I gave up eventually and decided to wait until they get their things sorted and so i checked into the trial yesterday.

Game run very well on maxed settings, 1680x1050 and one can tell that the the developers put alot of love into the game. Ambiente is great, the combat system quite challenging for a gamer used to autolock and art/design is outstanding and most original for today's standards.

However, in my one hour of playing i haven't seen a single player (perhaps because the main crowd left the starting area weeks ago). I dont know if there are any chat restrictions for trial accounts, but there wasnt a single line in that window in 1 hour so the chat was dead as well.

Too bad, this game has GREAT TO THE MAX potential. It suffers from bad publishing and is yet another game which will never get sorted and never get the attention it deserves because of poor handling. Recently it has shown that bad released mmos never fully recover unless you pretend that 50-100k is still a "success" by today's standards. The official forums are almost dead as well and i can see it following the way of Tabula Rasa.

Seeing this great title going down shit creek and getting handled by amateurs is a shame.

There is some deal between the EU publisher and the US one Acclaim where the EU can't go all out advertising the game until the Acclaim version goes live (it's beta atm). I guess it to stop the EU getting a head start in number of something.

This is just  forum heresay, but makes sense from the lack of advertising.

If this was true it would explain a lot.

The point remains though that Acclaim need to go live with this game, they need (for a lot of people) to get the CC in place, and they need to promote the hell outta it.

Are there any Acclaim users here who can tell me if they ever received an email drop inviting them to play SB? I mean... thats 8,000,000+ users... I know they are F2P people, but even if 1% showed interest it would be a great start... I would hope Acclaim are going to use this built in audience to promote this game as well as the traditional gaming web site and magazine reviews we havent seen yet to reach the P2P non Acclaim players.
