I'm creating this thread to share with you some of the funnest moments I've had in MMO's and to ask you yours.
1. EQ- The Coldain Ring quest. Amazing difficult and time consuming, but spawning an outright war which your guild must help with to win was really awesome.
2. EQ- Epic Quest raids- especially the last encounter for druids.
3. EQ- Grinding in Blackburrow, Karnor's Castle, PoI, and watching for TRAIN!
4. EQ- Charm fighting. Really really tough, risky, rewarding, and interesting.
5. EQ- LDoNs - each mission bringing me closer to that item that I really want, and requiring a well played group for about 2 hours.
6. EQ- Shakey scarecrow quest. Apparently this quest was for higher level chars. While playing it at a really low level I explored much of the world, found out how immense it was, snuck around soo many creatures that could kills me almost instantly, and availed the help of a few strangers.
7. EQ- Any number of zones that once you entered required you to fight your way to the exit (no escaping).
8. WoW (beta)- after finding a recipie for a mechanical squirel I decided to become an engineer so I could create this. I leveled my way through it and made one. Then I ran around with 'Stabby' thinking I was soo cool for having such a rare item. (ah ... to be newbish and nieve again)
9. Wow- learning and playing the AH to make 10k gold on a level 30. I don't think it's the game Blizzard expected for it's players, but was fun none-the-less.

1) the first long, harrowing trip from Windy to Jeuno as a low lvl taru without a friend in the world (via Dunes/Jugner/Etc.) and the sense of accomplishment when I *finally* zoned into Jeuno.
2) FFXI... taking the unconventional route to unlocking my subjob... I avoided the dunes and went after Dhamels and Rarabs in Buburimu as Taru BLM. As I grabbed items, a few "in-the-know" players stopped and asked to join. Before long, a small party of wild maniacs were taking down mobs like clockwork. Passing higher lvl JPNs were "/cheer"ing us on and one JPN RDM Taru named "Robixiii" (or something like that) stopped and helped us get our skulls from the higher level ghouls on the beach...
3) FFXI... during the very same subjob quest, we somehow wound up with two bull dhamels whacking the hell outta everybody (link or simultaenous pull?). Anyway, the group started running for zone but I got pissed off, used my 2 hour (manafont = unlimited magic points for a brief time) and bound one of the dhamels... nuking it to the ground, staring death in the face, while the party rallied and turned a few likely deaths into a razor-thin victory. Now that was thrilling, fun... and pretty damn reckless.
4) FFXI... during the initial stages of lvling my BLM, I was around lvl 11-12ish. I played on the PC release and while there were players around, the world was a little empty at times. So, if you had a suitable job you could still solo 10-14/15ish when bored/taking a break from quests. Of course you solo easy prey, but with care and skill, you can solo maze makers in the maze of shakhrami (sp?) if you are feeling a bit more daring.... I spent some time in there hating "RASP" with a passion and wound up grouping up with a Chinese MNK and Japanese WHM on the fly. We chained worms like crazy. Eventually, our three joined a couple of other players and we lvled in Bubu.
A lot of PS2 players only knew the dunes as a place to level. XPing in Bubu with crazy multinational members (who were both serious and stupidly funny in how they played) was awesome. I was still pretty new and some of us were making mistakes, but the better players were cool about it and did their best to help us (though half the time, it was in broken/pidgin English).
6) UO, befriending older/more experienced players and RPG'ers who were kind enough to tolerate a 16(?) year old stumbling along through their game. They were patient and good players and that was my first taste of community/group cohesion. I also remember what a kick I got out of running up to a PC who was killing mobs and "healing" them with bandages. They gave me a bit of coin and said thanks. That was probably my first player-player interaction in an MMO. I was hooked immediately.
7) UO, wearing a brown robe like a healer and walking around in the healing "guild"??? where the NPC healers are. I had a PC THF walk up and start snooping through my bag. He laughed and told me I did a good job. Claimed that it almost fooled him if not for some of the features you see on the paperdolls when it's a NPC vs PC. The very notion I could do that to another person, and not in a malicious way, just for the sheer immersion of it.... = totally amazed me.
what the heck..
10. Making a Taru MNK in FF XI and taking him to lvl 25.
9. Going on my first RVR run in DAOC (was a Shaman at the time)
8. Getting my first lvl capped toon in my MMO playing history on CoH
7. LDON PUGs
6. Having my first PVP battle in EQ against a Druid (played a rogue at the time)
5. Barrens Chat
4. Showing up 2 Brutes in City of Villans with my Robot/Trick Arrow mastermind when they said I couldn't solo with that build.
3. Galka + Subligear ((sp) you know the armor that looks like a thong in FF XI)
2. The wizard quest "Froggy Went-a-Portin" in EQ for my froglok wizard.
1. Getting away with naming my DAoC sorcerer Gnomepunter (Innocu race)
Mine would be getting lost in Guk in EQ. That place was a maze! Even though it could get frustrating, I have come to love it today. There was just something satisfying about accomplishing my goal in an area I considered frustrating. The funny part was, that right about the time I started to learn my way around there, I was pretty much done getting what I needed from there.
Oh and the first time I accidentally discovered what happens to Kithicor Forest at night in EQ....
or entering the zone while the Rogue epic is happening
WoW: Killing my first player in WG
WoW: Leveling a toon to 60 for the first time (vanilla) (first ever maxed level toon)
