What I want to do in EVE is be a runner, a smuggler.
How does one do this. I would like to be hired to move items across the universe.
Where does one start. Is this a viable or do-able goal.
Secondly, what would be a good build of skills and ships to accomplish this goal.
Suggestions. I hope to hear from the EVE professionals.
Everybody vs. Everybody.
Thanks.

your ultimate goal is a blackops battleship, perhaps a jumpfreighter, but before any of that, you want to get a blockade runner, these ships are listed under the "transport" shiptype. you're going to need to make some cash, so once you have done the tutorials you should have a couple of million, you need to figure out what you can buy in one place, move to another and sell, start small and work up, research new potential profit routes. i would start buying rat loot drops in mission hubs and moving them or the minerals they refine into to market hubs. do your research, find the profitable routes.
good luck saving for your first industrial.
What Xennith stated is what is needed, go for a cargo ship depending on your race. One skill that is a must is cloaking as well as warp drive operation as well as evasive maneuvering. Boosters and certain dog tags are good commodities to smuggle but be careful in high sec as these are contrband items.
