Question about the renewing of old accounts offer

How old are the accounts are they talking about if anyone knows? I had characters on an account like 5 years ago and would love to restore them. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Pretty much the older they are, the more hoops you got to jump through to retrieve them.
Expect to be asked for old PlayOnline codes, Content ID codes, old email associated with the PlayOnline/FFXi account, old credit cards, addresses and the like.
I think characters are automatically deleted after about a year or so. There's a campaign going on atm called, "The Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign" though. It's where characters inactive for however amount of time can be restored on your account, as long as you have all of the registration information you used on the account for that specific character (registration codes you used, CC number, character name, etc).

Okay i just recently did this.... So i had my old account # that code that goes with your name on the launch pad and old password then I resubed and my CHR's were still there my account is very old and unless some one has been paying for my account and not lvling it which could happen i suppose i had all my chrs and their stuff. And ontop of that i still for some reason had things in the mail from like 3 years ago. now i know its not 5 but my CHRs are still their and in running around as a new CHR as i was very lost. But anyhow good luck!
i quit this games 2 years ago and cancled my account, well i did nto knwo you had to cancel some odd four dif account and or login names and they have been charging and old cc i dotn even use anymore to this day, i went and installed the game and sure enough i was able to log in . its funny and kinda stupid in all the same
