I thought about this awhile ago, but if the top three companies should come together and create a singal game. This would be such a hyped game with the latest technology that everyone would buy it, then each of the companies could make different mods for the same game to offer a varity. I think this would be good because so many people would be playing at once, and since the companies are working together the game would be perfect in theory. All the best ideas would pour into it and everyone would benifit.
What do you think?

Never heard the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth"?
Having the top 3 companies come together has, if anything, less chance of creating the 'perfect' mmorpg. The thing about the current situation is that we have choice. Some people like anime style, some people like scifi, some people like fantasy / medieval style and I'm sure there's probably some games which don't fit into any of those 3 major categories.
The fact is that there is no such thing as the 'perfect' mmorpg. It just doesn't exist. If you somehow managed to get 1 million MMORPG players to describe in detail their perfect MMORPG, you'd end up with 1 million different games.
And anyway, who are the top3 companies? IMO some of the best MMORPG work is coming out from small development groups that are just entering into the MMORPG market for the first time. A lot of the 'big' companies have got sucked into franchise work. I haven't played any MMORPG yet that was based on an existing franchise and actually worked to make me feel like part of the storyline of that franchise.
The small entry-level companies, due to lack of funds to get a franchise license, or no wish to, create original storylines and write a game that fits to that concept really well, and as a result are creating some of the best MMORPGs available at the moment.
You also have the fact that taking existing companies would pull them of f their current projects, and unless you plan to shut it down, you just can't do that with an MMORPG. Creating an MMORPG is a long term commitment. I would much prefer the companies continue individually with their current projects as they are much more likely to create the perfect MMORPG for me.

The overall idea is a good one. That is, I think MMO's have the best chance for success if they have a large player base to grow from. Having (Bliz, SOE, and MS) cut each others throats at a player base will not help. A large part of EQ's success was that it had sole access to a large player base ( don't think UO was a major threat).
As for if it would make the best MMO I'll have to disagree.
Sometimes the best ideas on paper just don't play out well when implemented.
