Help-Downloader?

OK. So I'm late to the party... have had this game in the back of my mind for years but haven't been paying attention till now... game just went live yesterday :P So, I decide to download the client. Find out that they are still using a bittorrent download system (I say 'still' coz I was called into the alpha test 3 years ago -- I washed out coz my PC couldn't handle it at the time ><;) ... I was unhappy with the BT system then and guess what, I have the same frikkin' problems today as I did back then: DOWNLOAD FREEZE. So, 2 questions:
1) Is the game up and running atm or are servers down?
2) Anyone else having issues with this (imo) craptastic Pando concept?
Yes, my current PC runs laps round the one I tried to alpha on and I am on a different internet connection than before. I also live in an entirely different location than before. So I think I can safely rule 'me' out as the problem with Pando...
I was sceptical about Pando 3 years ago, I /ranted on the spellborne forum about it back then. I don't see an improvement (stuck at 7% for past 7.5 hours) and now I am expected to fork over PREMIUM monthly sub (i.e. not 9.99US, not 11.99US, not even 13.99US, but 14.99US) and not be serviced with a PROPER downloader/updater which I think is reasonably fair to be demanded from the subscriber base at PREMIUM subscription rate.

I downloaded this game twice (once for me and once for the GF) and have had zero issues. The patcher also runs like a dream for both of us.

Hey, if it helps, just keep thinking that you are getting client (box) for FREE (the thing that AoC, DF, WAR, etc charged you to buy 'off the shelf'... ) and then being given 2 weeks unlimited play time for FREE and then only being asked to pay a pretty standard market monthly sub IF you like it. Maybe the honesty and generousity of this sales plan will make you feel a little better about the whole thing
I started downloading using their downloader last night. It froze at 4% and no amount of restarting the download solved the problem. So I tried a new download and the thing won't even begin. So I'm fustrated myself and will likely not even try the game.
I'm having the same issue right now. I decided to download it but the downloader is just stuck at 26% and it was going so fast too
oh nvm just figured it out.
If the downloader stalls on you just go into your task manager and end process on PMB.exe and the downloader should resume downloading.
Damn I have to say I am getting some really nice speeds from it. The entire game is only going to take 40minutes or so to download.
I had exactly the same problem. It would freeze at a random place and never resume. VERY bad design for a download system. I finally gave up and down loaded it from fileplanet. Its not a bad game, all things considered. But I'd not be surprised to see it go the way that Saga of Ryzom did. Too many business and design mistakes from the very start.
If your having issues with the downloader that Acclaim uses, download it from this site. MMORPG.com offers game downloads now, and as of April 24th 09, the US client is available. Seems they removed the EU client that they had posted from last year. Go to the games list, scroll down to the game and click on it, and click the big green download button on the right hand side. MMORPG.com uses Gravity for it's downloads which is pretty good. PMB or Pando Media Booster has been having issues lately with an assortment of games like this one and LOTRO. There is also a client download on Fileplanets website if you want to download there or have a premium account with them. I always find alternate downloads to be faster and more efficeint than downloads from the actual gaming site. Make sure if your playing on the Acclaim servers, you get the US client and not the EU client. Also, PMB is a very respectable company but as noted, it's having some issues they they are fully aware of and are attempting to fix. Hope this helps and game on!
