I like how there have been claims that the mouse and keyboard weren't designed for gaming.  Hah!.  Suppose you people have never seen a merc keyboard? howabout a wolfking keyboard?  Howabout the series of logitech mouses with weights for precision tuning?  Ignorance.

Fact of the matter is I'd face any team of pc gamers against any team of xbox gamers and i'm pretty sure we all know who'd come out on top.   The PC also has way more utility than these console games.  Consolidation is key, No ones going to spend 600+ for the next gen console and a computer, when the computer is easily superior.

Who cares? What's fun is fun. This whole mock debate is based on opinion on who likes PC or Console, for MMOS, not FPS', and most MMOs dont need FPS like percision (There are a few though.)

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

None of those keyboard/mouse designs looks like it would be very easy to use sitting on a couch, heh heh

Some of them dont even have mice...a touchpad is NOT the same as a mouse. Not even close.

I am sure it is possible to make a mouse-type controller, but I dont see consoles users embracing it. They're happy with auto-aim cheat mechanics in place now. Anyone who isnt is playing on the PC, not the console.

Like i said, i just use a regular USB keyboard and mouse. The examples i posted, were just different examples.

Use your brain and figure out what one is right for you. Don't attack the messenger. The main point was, there are options out there, even if you are not aware.

Would it break your mind to know you can dual boot a PS3 with Linux or windows and load and run your favorite MMO's?

    I bet it will.

Also M.A.G for the PS3 is a FPS MMO buy the SOCOM group that supports 256 player per zone.

Use your brain and figure out what one is right for you.

I did that already. Thats why I play FPS on the PC. The console is less appealing for FPS.

Would it break your mind to know you can dual boot a PS3 with Linux or windows and load and run your favorite MMO's?

Why would I do that if I can already do it on a PC?

Dual booting on consoles is obviously not something most console users want to do. Because a big part of the appeal of consoles is simplicity and easy of use. If they are willing to dual boot, why would they not just get a real PC anyway?

    (Mind remains unbroken. Sorry.)

Heck, most FPS don't need precision until you are playing multiplayer competitively. If you just want to have some fun with a single player campaign, it is much more comfy to use a console type controller. In fact, I bought one for my PC so that i can play SP games more comfortably.

I'm sure it works, but looks clunky. I can't believe someone can't design something more elegant, but maybe with this interface that's as elegant as you can get.

    How about this:

Audio is already built in. Put a keyboard pad on the right side, mounted into the arm, and a WASD control on the left side, full keyboard swings up and over like a dinner tray in first class on the airline if you need it to chat.

    People have. They are expensive.

I was just posting things that anyone with a realistic budget can use.

My personal choice is the PS3. It is rapidly becoming similar to a computer, and I like playing all sorts of games on it. Plus, the blue ray drive just made netflix even more awesome than it was before. However, I do like playing mmorpgs (with the exception of fps mmorpgs) on my computer.

Also, that new game coming out exclusively for the PS3 called M.A.G. looks like pure fun. Can you imagine 128 vs.128 team deathmatches? If this game becomes a hit, it will set a standard for all fps mmorpgs out there.

It all comes down to personal references of games. When I bought Bioshock for the computer, I thought it would be just as good as it would have been on the PS3. Sigh...still wishing I would've just ponied up the extra 20$ and just bought the PS3 version. Long story short, I prefer the comfort of a joypad and sitting further away from a screen with FPS games than with a keyboard and mouse and computer screen.

X-Box live is better for that; it lets you download Netflix movies on the fly. No more waiting for them to be sent via mail.

I was skeptical about the service at first, but it is ridiculously easy to use, and works very well.

    So does the PS3.

I looked for a link showing that the PS3 can currently download moives from netflix, but couldnt find it.

The closest I found were stories about how it MIGHT be coming to the PS3, such as this - http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/25/is-netflix-ps3-bound-too/ -

I am almost positive i saw a tv commercial about it where the guy buys a PS3 and calls his friends over, before they get to his place his girl gets home and asks what it is and he plays it off as some movie downloader or something.

  • Brain-deadBrain-dead Member Posts: 256

I did see some sites saying you could hack the PS3 to show Netflix (using HULU or something). But nothing about being able to order directly from Netflix now.

I dont really have a preference between the two. I am slightly biased towards the X-Box 360 just because my Nephews have one, but both systems are pretty much analogous to me. I wouldnt be buying a console to watch movies on, so it would not enter into my decision either way.

  • RamenThief7RamenThief7 Member Posts: 362

Hrrmmm...so there is supposed to be a netflix ap on the PS3? I didn't know that.

By the way Brain-Dead, you might want to consider getting a PS3 if you are interested in Blu-Ray. Since HD-DVD lost, Blu-Ray will be the future once DVD dies out, and considering how expensive many other Blu-Ray Drives are, you're almost better off getting a PS3 (especially during this winter, I've heard the price for a PS3 will drop again).

I would also like to have a PS3. It's like a console and PC in one. Well, almost.

    Pros

I still game on my pc but consoles are winning me over slowly.  Here is why...

    1. It costs me less to buy a console compared to a pc. Unless you know how to build a pc and know the shortcuts on saving money then it will cost you more for a pc.

    2. No viruses on a console, no firewall needed nor do I need anti-virus software. That is less I have to deal with.

    3. Yes it is easier to point and click with a mouse and use wasd functions but once you get the hang of a controller it is like second nature.

    4. I can trade in my xbox games for something else I want. When I buy pc games I can't.

    5. I DONOT have to worry about system requirements, No more questions like " Can my pc run this game"

    6. PCs may have better graphics capability do to those nice vid cards but if anyone tells me that gaming in HD at 1080p is not good enough then something is seriously wrong somewhere..

    7. Goodbye keyboard and hello headset. Its a godsend when gaming online with people.

    8. Xbox Live is only $50.00 a year to game online and the PS3 is free to game online.

    Cons

    1. Not enough mmos and multiplayer rpgs on a console yet.

This is the only con I have so far for a console but eventually there will be more mmos and multiplayer rpgs type games coming our way. Lets face it, the mmo industry is wanting to put mmos on a console and even more single player games are coming to consoles. Unless pc makers have something up their sleeve consoles will be the future of mmos and better gaming.

    PC.

more power, more control keys (keyboard), more customization, I am going to have one anway.

I cant imagine playing an MMO with what....4 keys? (or whatever a console has)

Right now the only console I am considering buying is the PSP GO in October. The only games I play nowadays are MMOs and simulation/God games like RCT3, which suck on consoles. I already have my nephews X-Box 360 if I feel like fighting games.

As for the keyboard, consoles do have controller attachments that can give you a mini-keyboard (analogous to a full phone keyboard). And voice chat systems are common on consoles now.

Gaming in HD at 1080p is not good enough.  It's a serious disadvantage in PvP to only view at 1080p.  I threw away my 22" monitor for a 30" 2560x1600 resolution.  It makes a bigger difference than can be put into words.  It's like double the resolution of HD and I can see for miles around me.  Especially usefull when you join a raid of 24 and you have all those health bars cluttering the screen.  Now they only use one corner.

VoIP is free with internet access.  If you didn't have a headset on your computer to start with you've been missing out.

I dont agree that not having a 30" monitor in 2560x1600 can be called a "disadvantage"

BUT I also have a 30" monitor 2560x1600 and its very sweet I agree!

for those that do not know, yes we get more actual in game visible real-esate so there is a direct advantage. (forgive on my spelling please)
