I was all happy today to get my copy of Lineage 2 to try it out. Unfortunately, it didn't agree with me.
The game refused to start, claiming that there was a number of gameguard problems. So I checked out what it was about. Once I did, I was reminded of the days of old (back in 1995) where we had to tear the hearts out of our systems for a single game to decide to work. I thought we were past that, but I was in for a surprise.
From my system I have run World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings Online. Not a problem with anything. At least on this side of the world. And I keep my system up to par with everything (cleaning, organizing, maintaining, you name it). I even upgraded my router and I've seen vast improvements in everything else. How comes and this game behaves is so radically different?
I did everything that the FAQ for the gameguard said, but it only ended up in nothingness, including my computer starting to have serious hickups after I disabled everything the Gameguard suggested.
It also struck me as a surprise that the game was updating at 24kbps, when my real speed is 15MBps (all other games see and utilize it).
Usually games that misbehave go directly to the garbage without a second chance, ever... but this time I'm asking if any kind soul out there has an answer to this eternal 2 year old game problem.

Well, I eventually did everything the Gameguard told me not to (reactivated and reinstated even more powerful protections)... and it worked...
I wish I could understand the logic, but the matter is resolved! :-s
Thank you for your time And forgive me for my previous disappointment.
