Pre-Ordered my EQ2 copy (dvd) Who else got their boots ready?

Well I pre-ordered my copy this weekend! Got my "starter" cd which has the Char Creation Tool and the code for my "Journeyman Boots"!!! Woot heh...

I know I'm taking a bit of a chance here...since I haven't played the beta "yet"  But from what I've read I think the game will be good and if for no other reason...I am curious and want to experience it for myself and and see what it's like. I also have WoW pre-ordered lol...I played the "stress" test and found it fun and interesting. So along with my L2 account I will have PLENTY of mmog goodness to keep me busy!!! I'm NOT a power gamer btw...I just love trying out games to see the diff approaches companys/devs take.

Also btw ...I just have to say I hate threads that bash or flame games or those who like them. The whole WoW vs EQ2 stuff is sad. True...some will enjoy one more than the other. One game may do something a bit better than the other. Fine...I suspect that both games will enjoy quite a bit of popularity upon release. And after playing for a few months I may post which game I'm enjoying more and explaine why. But I will never bash a game or those who have diff taste than mine!

I actually hope I'll enjoy BOTH for diff reasons!

I got my boots ready to be stepped into. I also have the exact character I will play all planned and out and ready. Now all we have to do is wait.

Just a word of advice, you can only have the boots on one toon. They are non-transferable so save them for someone you are going to stick with. Also they are not the same item from EQLive. They will give you a speed boost but not nearly as much as the 30% from live. And last but not least, do not use them on a scout, it will be a waist as scouts get a speed but at 7.

I've since cancelled my copy for numerous reasons. The reality of the boots is this...

Your going to outgrow them, just like you would if they were real.

Eventually they will deteriorate beyond repair and or your going to need / find some foot wear with a better armour rating or enhancement.

It's just a temporary virtual item brought on my marketing / sales suits. Gotta luv em. Don't think im "bashin" here, all companies have them. I've just identified one of many brought by SOE.

It's not much of a boost. I can't tell the difference with or without it. Even when my Shaman hit lvl 13 and got SoW, I couldn't really tell much of a difference, but it just wasn't worth recasting on everyone every 15 minutes. It was just not enough of a speed boost to be worthwhile. Maybe at higher levels there is an upgraded version that would be worth it.

received my 2nd copy of the Starter Kit today. One set of boots already registered. I agree, it was stated the boots would be "nothing special" since they will not give a benefit above other players who don;t have them. They were just meant as an additional item in the pre-purchase bundle. I will wear them, as to such time they wear or I find better, in regards to armor rating or enhancements...
