1) The feature list is still on the website, therefor it is not "ancient"; it's current.
2) The onus is on the company to provide readily available, accurate and up-to-date information on their product. It's not on the potential buyer to have to go scouring for it. That AV knowingly keeps outdated and/or inaccurate information on their site is unprofessional, dishonest and lame.

Just a correction about something that I've been seeing on here. A misconception, really. It's not the servers that cost a lot of money. Computer hardware is actually pretty cheap and a one time cost that is easily recouped. What is costly is the bandwidth costs, but the money from the subscriptions and software sales, that should be easily recouped as well, if the subscriber numbers are up to par. With the development team in Greece, living costs are lower, with potentially more of the money available to be used for bandwidth costs and such. The question is, where is the money going?
Aventurine is an indy developer, but its numbers don't really add up. Flying Labs software is also an indie developer but they are doing fine with their game, Pirates of the Burning Sea. While I disagree with some of their design choices and such, the game was still in better shape than this one. They managed to put up several servers at launch as well.
Without hard numbers, anything is simply conjecture, but Darkfall is simply another incomplete game that falls short of its potential.
Nearly everyone was saying this game would never be released. Now I'm wishing they had taken longer to get the game up to par.
Back in beta, a large number of testers including myself, kept telling Aventurine to delay the game since we knew, and they knew, that it was not ready. Many of us saw all that was missing from the game, especially how easily exploitable it was. Some of the threads made were deleted, others out right ignored by AV. Its sad when the Beta testers themselves say that the game is great but far from ready, far from complete.
At the same time, all the non beta testers on other forums were demanding it to be released, or making claims that its vaporware..ect they didnt help. AV released it more to appease them than be patient and listen to the testers.
No. They released it for one reason, and one reason only.
They needed the revenue to start flowing in.
Same reason AOC, WAR, and many other games launched incomplete as they did.
They released because it was planned and announced to release.
The game is not incomplete however beta servers and live servers plus the need to maintain them is costly. So they couldn' t wait for the fluff stuff some beta folks wanted to see in the game and for the suddenly raised demand (all the years folks on the forums never exceed 50k and suddenly 200k people wanting a beta spot) having to pay for servers and service. IMO the game is feature ready like announced with not really important stuff missing.
The reason for the launch trouble is located more in infrastructure being not ready for the mass that was interested in.
Yod can't truthfully say a game with features turned off because they are broken is complete. It's bullshit.
I was interested in the game, but alas I am no longer. Not because people have very logically pointed out what's wrong with it, but due to the fact that most fans of the game won't admit when they are wrong faced with the overwhelming amounts of facts presented to them. What is diffcult to understand about my opinion. The game may missing not important features but the meat is trhere and make up for IMO the best game on the market in ragerds to that i find it complete and be happy it got released and i can play it NOW and not have to wait for NOT IMPORTANT stuff.

As long as you acknowledge that AV released an unfinished game than I'm not sure what everyone else's problem is. You enjoy a game, they don't. I don't like WoW, while a lot of my friends do. I enjoy one side of the political spectrum and they enjoy the other.
People need to get over trying to guess which date on their calendar Darkfall will shut down. I admit I was curious to see if a game could close shop right away too, but now it's just not fun anymore. The game may or may not make it but by the time either happens another 10 MMOs will have come out and everyone here bitching because they thought DF was going to be the game for them (because of elements maybe not implemented yet - better not be weather) will have moved on. To answer your question in suitable way it would require me to put an entirely write up of my doings and experiences in game but i don't have the time to do so now and i also don't intent to ever write about.
A short version .. I started as Dwarf to take part on a important Clan activity the day one because it was to close to the event and a travel from one racial land to another is TOO DANGEROUS..(first feature i love)
Rerolled the other day, did the starter quests and got on my journay for meet up ..*hugs and kisses* on arrival.
We needed some blood for a recipe leading us to a terretory called afghanistan (among players not offcial). We made it there safe and sneaky with a lot of heartbeat pumping found the mobs and collected the blood but on the way back we got rolled by the famous Rainbow Ninjas. We lost half of our loot on something that could have been called manhunt with us being the pray. We tried to divide in 2 troops one selecting a path through mountains the other one try to stay shoreside on Rivers and Lakes. We made it with half our goodies lost.
We talk much. Agon and DarkFall makes active voice communication absolutely necessary . We known each other but many new people joined us in DarkFall, we still in process of building better social structur within our Clan and learn each other better to know. We finally share online pillage and death together.
First week our officers ordered the stockpiling of ironore and gold for some reason (well i know now why ). So i did mining a lot.
I choose one-hander as mellee and the use of bows, tending for fire magic but not decided if i follow that path. I am still not high in any combat skill but i take part in any clan activity, Guarding, Raiding, Farming, Mining, you name it.
Not every of our activities is being handled by gamemechanics but its finally on us to shape Agon, isn't it ? We have put bounties on heads we dislike for example and we guarding miners for just looking in surprised faces of reds hoping for the quick loot.

The game is not incomplete however beta servers and live servers plus the need to maintain them is costly. So they couldn' t wait for the fluff stuff some beta folks wanted to see in the game and for the suddenly raised demand (all the years folks on the forums never exceed 50k and suddenly 200k people wanting a beta spot) having to pay for servers and service. IMO the game is feature ready like announced with not really important stuff missing.
The reason for the launch trouble is located more in infrastructure being not ready for the mass that was interested in.
Yod can't truthfully say a game with features turned off because they are broken is complete. It's bullshit.

But the meat isn't there. Perhaps the bones are. The revolutionary features that would have made the game unique have been cut. What is left is a FPS with a lame RPG tacked on.

I have benn follow these forums for a long time now, but don't understand how anyone is suppose to get any acurate information from the players of the game when all they do is contradict themselves, or spin the info.

As long as you acknowledge that AV released an unfinished game than I'm not sure what everyone else's problem is. You enjoy a game, they don't. I don't like WoW, while a lot of my friends do. I enjoy one side of the political spectrum and they enjoy the other.

I do hope that more will be added to the game. My position regarding Darkfall is that they have a good core game, one that can very easily be expanded upon with more features in the future.

To answer your question in suitable way it would require me to put an entirely write up of my doings and experiences in game but i don't have the time to do so now and i also don't intent to ever write about.
A short version .. I started as Dwarf to take part on a important Clan activity the day one because it was to close to the event and a travel from one racial land to another is TOO DANGEROUS..(first feature i love)
Rerolled the other day, did the starter quests and got on my journay for meet up ..*hugs and kisses* on arrival.
We needed some blood for a recipe leading us to a terretory called afghanistan (among players not offcial). We made it there safe and sneaky with a lot of heartbeat pumping found the mobs and collected the blood but on the way back we got rolled by the famous Rainbow Ninjas. We lost half of our loot on something that could have been called manhunt with us being the pray. We tried to divide in 2 troops one selecting a path through mountains the other one try to stay shoreside on Rivers and Lakes. We made it with half our goodies lost.
We talk much. Agon and DarkFall makes active voice communication absolutely necessary . We known each other but many new people joined us in DarkFall, we still in process of building better social structur within our Clan and learn each other better to know. We finally share online pillage and death together.
First week our officers ordered the stockpiling of ironore and gold for some reason (well i know now why
). So i did mining a lot.
I choose one-hander as mellee and the use of bows, tending for fire magic but not decided if i follow that path. I am still not high in any combat skill but i take part in any clan activity, Guarding, Raiding, Farming, Mining, you name it.
Not every of our activities is being handled by gamemechanics but its finally on us to shape Agon, isn't it ? We have put bounties on heads we dislike for example and we guarding miners for just looking in surprised faces of reds hoping for the quick loot.
