After reading some posts here it really seems like we got some arrogant 'good ol boys'. Eve is not just for old players. Eve is for new players to come and enjoy it as well. CCP is not dumbing down Eve at all. Eve is still the same old cold, harsh, ruthless world it always has been. It's just now the new players have a little easier time learning the game in their first couple of days. I guess some of you old people might be a little scared a new player may come a long and blow up your little ship from underneath you.
The Ambulation shit will not have any effect on space battles and lag in space. All the ambulation stuff will be on seperate servers.
yea the server is cramped with people now its nice too see it I remember the days when 5000 online was much.. The bad stuff is when you getting people from other mmorpgs they tend to think lets have the same attitude against others as I had in the other mmorpgs like wow. insult people badsmacks talks and then they hit 00 sec and Boom the lost there bs hehe and there pod in a sec.
Server is cramped ? How ?
Is it just where you are is over populated ? Maybe try moving to a different area of space. I never have problem finding quiet systems if I am looking for them.
What I dont want is another 20-30k sitting in mission hubs in high sec for an eternity.
like i always say is not CCP fault that new player dont go to low sec or 0.0 the corps that live in low sec/0.0 fail to recruit them
I woudn't even go so far as to say that at all. It's the player himself that chooses if he wants to go or not. CCP and 0.0 corps recruiting them won't change a person mentality. Most new players come into Eve very scared of the harsh pvp penalties and immediately think that any loss is going to ruin them forever in game.
I pray daily that CCP will not dumb down this game just to get more subs. That seems to be the trend with MMOs these days.
Already in process, EVE goes mainstream.
PVP is getting nerf after nerf, more secure space is getting boosted and worked on.
Gdem,
I wanna ask you again since you never did respond to these questions before from me.
What are the specific things that CCP has done to Eve to make it more mainstream, and how have these things been so mainstream.
How is PvP getting nerfed ?
What secure space is getting boosted and worked on ? I haven't seen anything on this. Please post a link so I can read it for myself rather than trust some guy on the forums ?

Oh not this discussion again
I think I already explained my point of view in the other thread while back...
To sum it up(just top of my head):
1) broken risk vs reward mechanics 2) security status hits changes 3) CONCORD response times 4) speed nerf 5) agility 6) w-holes, the most secure and most rewarding area 7) missiles changes 8) BS in low sec
etc., etc. it goes on and on... EVE is now safer and most rewarding as never before.
EDIT: 9) factional warfare 10) gang aggression flagging

No you never explained it at all, you just listed a bunch of things like you did below and never gave any reasons behind them. I want to hear why you feel the things you are are broken and how you would fix them.
To sum it up(just top of my head):
1) broken risk vs reward mechanics. Explain why you feel this way ?
2) security status hits changes Again, explain why ?
3) CONCORD response times Too long, too short ? What exactly is the problem ?
4) speed nerf Already been discussed to death and back, speed nerfs were needed. Games combat mechanics were nerver designed to handle the speeds people were going. Just because you needed nanos to survice this does no mean they didn't need a nerf.
5) agility Ok, CCP admitted they borked it a little and it's getting fixed so ships are not as agile.
6) w-holes, the most secure and most rewarding area Really ? Tell that to the groups of players setting up pos's in wormholes and attacking players they scan down.
7) missiles changes Everything changes in the game, learn to change with them. Man if I had to get all pissy and cry that CCP is giving in and dumbing the game down I would have quit in the first couple of months.
8) BS in low sec What ?
etc., etc. it goes on and on... EVE is now safer and most rewarding as never before.
EDIT:
9) factional warfare Whats wrong with it ?
10) gang aggression flagging Again what is wrong with it ?
The only way this will be an argument is if you avoid the questions.
Dude, give me details on what you think is wrong. Just saying things like Concord response times means nothing. Are they too short, too long or whats the problem ?
Ill give an example of what I mean.
I tried to play Age of Conan and I really disliked the combat system. The problems I had with it was how easy it was for someone to get out of combat only 4 feet in front of someone and keep running regenning health really fast. One good example of this was around the mid 20s level. I was playing my shaman and a barbarian would always be stealthed around me and trying to gank me. Well he would always get the jump but I could take his damage and heal and then fight back getting him down to below half health. But the moment he saw he wasn't going to kill me as fast as he thought he would he would start running. Now he would never get away from me but he would get just out of attack range. Now that he is out of attack range the combat flag would drop and his health would regen to full near instantly. In the end this kind of a fight was nothing more than a total stalemate.
This is how you explain a game mechanic is broken. Not just "It sucks". Sure "it sucks" is easy and to the point and means everything to you but to us 'it sucks' means nothing.
Seriously guys I decided to create a new character today and Rookie chat had 3400 people in it. Thats more people then most WoW servers have on at once during primetime. These are only 30 day old newbs and the game has this many people flying around. High sec is packed, Low sec is like some crazy ass free for all with gate camps in every direction. Where the helll did all of these people come from!!!! lol I think CCP may have to push level 3-4 missions into low sec and spread out valuable ores into low sec so people will stop flooding Empire. If more and more people join the game CCP is going to need to do something because certain systems already have queues we need to move the older players that sit in empire all day out to make some room for these guys.
I think it's all the free trial players, brought in by the media blitz they put on last month. I see Eve ads all over the net these days, in places I wouldn't normally expect them. They do make the game look great too. They were enough to persuade me to try the game. Don't worry though, most of the new guys won't be in your way in a month.
I do like the single server approach they take in Eve. It's unfortunate that the single universe is divided in to thousands of separate zones.
After reading some posts here it really seems like we got some arrogant 'good ol boys'. Eve is not just for old players. Eve is for new players to come and enjoy it as well. Gool ol' Boys? You mean the players that went to Eve speicifically for the type of game play it offered?
The problem with gamers like you is that you're not content to play the games that fit with your playing style. You have decided that you have the right to play ALL MMOs and they should adapt to YOUR style. If they don't, you whine and threaten until the game company, in the business of making money, caves to your demands. You spread like a virus through the MMO genre, diluting every game into a mass of shit for players who are looking something different. YOU have created a genre where every game is pretty much a carbon copy of every other game.
Do you see the, as you say, 'good ol boys', running around trying to force every game to be more "cold, harsh, and ruthless"? No, because when we find a game that suits us, we stick with it.
Because of people like you, Eve will go the way of WoW. All the gamers who enjoyed that playing style will leave and the game will become a community where everyone stays in 1.0 space, playing dress-up (with ships), and chatting about the latest Brittany Spears CD, using l33t-speak because they think it makes them cool. CCP will try to appease the whiners by making 0.0 space "safer" (WTF?) and viola!, another carbon copy is born.
If you want to know what's wrong with MMO's today, look in the mirror.

'Sigh'... You asked for changes that made EVE more mainstream, now you need to explain what those changes mean...? Do we play the same game?
1) risk vs reward examples veldspar high sec mining missions - high sec level 4
The game is fucked at this point at pretty much all elevels.
2, 3) Read up update notes sometimes... All the effort to remove suicide ganking. Concord response times and security hits increased last summer. 4) Speed nerf was absolutely undeeded. Speed fits were 0.0 warfare exclusively and they were working fine there. Show me what was broken about 0.0 nano roaming gangs that would justify the changes.
Learn to play.
6) That is what I am doing. Those peeps are sitting on safe gold mines...w-hole POS warfare? Don't make me laugh...8) Battleship spawns in low sec. Again, risk vs reward. It is getting to be a joke. 9) FW - going from FFA to RvR is not the way EVE used to be... I look at it in bigger picture along with other changes - safer area of compulsory combat with RVR. But yeah, when considering FW as 'stand alone' feature, it's definately nice PvP feature. 10) again, read update notes sometimes... Joining a gang with a player who is currently in a war will used to make you a valid target. Again safer space for high sec mission runners.
The discussion is pointless since we just have different points of views. What you see as an exploit, I can see as great feature and fun. It is like discussing the PVP aspect of the game with a carebear - ruining a fun of someone else is fun for the other.
AOC is awesome game imo. Your experience is at low levels, and the game changes dramaticaly as you level up. PVP is great, just not my cup of tea since I am a bit clumsy in controlling my character. That's why I prefer EVE's 'slower' combat system. I don't understand why so few people are playing the game.

Excuse me ? What the hell are you even talking about ? Where did I ever say that Eve or any other game should change for me?
You know what, just read my post history please, instead of making such a childish attack based on what ? I don't even know what your problem is.
You do realize I have been around Eve since beta right ? I am not some n00b coming into Eve demanding changes to make the game more like WoW. I have thoroughly enjoyed sitting back and watching how CCP has developed the game and the company over the years. Yes, I am a fanboy but I am a fan because I happen to agree with what they have done with the game, if they ever did make some drastic change that I very strongly disagreed with I would just then cancel my sub and say goodbye. I'm certainly not going to whine and cry and beg for them.
Nice little rant though, here's a hanky to wipe those tears away.

That's pretty much what my view is. I am not saying EVE sucks, I say EVE is not going the same way as it was heading couple years back. I play EVE for qualities that were top on CCP's priority list. The priorities are changing though.
You can still find fun PVP in the game but your space is shrinking expansion after expansion and I can't see any improvement in the future :-(

There is a strong reason for people avoiding low sec and that is because the risk/reward in this game is skewed to hell. Played the game for 4 months and got the skills to get into a Battleship and then went to low sec. Got blown up by a gang of gankers and lost everything.
Got insurance but it only returns a portion of the value of the ship and zero from all the millions spent on fittings. Cancelled and never looked back. Can't have a PvP game with such a huge penalty for dying, will make people avoid PvP.
So yeah, understandable why people don't go in lowsec.

*sigh*
You know what. I give up with you. You don't care to explain yourself ever. You won't explain how something is broken or game breaking you just say it is. Just saying it is not an argument.
My example with AoC was just that, an example. It's not a review of the game or anything like that. It was just an example of one thing in the game I didn't like and why I did not like it. Whether or not you agree with it doesn't matter. What does matter is that I gave a reasonable explanation behind why I did not like AoCs combat rather than just sit there say "AoC's combat is broken"
My OP is about the crowding of highsec and that im a bit worried the server might have issues unless some people start moving into low sec to make room for the massive amount of newbies inc.
I dont think Eve is broken and I certainly dont consider myself an old timer.
Do I think the fat cats that do nothing but mission run with disposable income and having never lost a ship need some risk? yes I do.
To the guy above that played 4 months and got blown up in a BS. Dude you wasted four months all you needed to do was go to low sec right away in a frig, get blown up and quit. Eve isnt for everyone and you were dumb for going into low sec with a BS alone with minimal training (four months is shit).
I always see people saying that risk vs reward is out of balance when talking about high sec level 4 missions compared to 0.0. In some ways what many say is true. It is very easy to make a great deal of money in high sec running level 4 missions. I don't do it hardcore myself so I do not know the exact isk / hour you make at it. You do make nice isk from the mission rat bounties, tags off of faction npcs, loot, salvage, recycled crap loot, and faction rewards. The amount of money to be made by a single player is great for a single player or him and a couple of friends. Maybe this player and his friends are not that ambitious and do not want to go to 0.0 to live and fight. To me this is fine, it lets the more casual players enjoy the game too. Afterall Eve should not only be for the absolute hardcore pvpers in gaming.
Now if this same player and his friends were ambitious and not just wanted to make more money they wanted a system to call their own. Now if they are able to acheive this goal they will make more money than they would have in high sec missions, maybe not a whole lot more but more.
Now some people are saying thats the point. High sec missions pay more money out and it's not wirth it isk wise to move to 0.0. But what about the excitement factor ? Surely running missions all day every day gets as boring as mining. I know it was for me.
People are afraid to die in WoW with a near zero death penalty. Do you really think new players are willing to rush off to low sec and 0.0 where they constantly hear the horror stories of ruthless ganking ? New players just need time to get accustomed to the game.
My personal view on level 4 missions though is that they should all be moved to the border systems to .4 with a 50% chance the mission will send you into low sec space. Right now there are too many good quality level 4 agents no where near a low sec system and no chance of a mission ever requiring you to go there.
Originally posted by Lordmonkus *sigh* You know what. I give up with you. You don't care to explain yourself ever. You won't explain how something is broken or game breaking you just say it is. Just saying it is not an argument.
The points I raised are very much known to anyone who understand the game mechanics.
High sec lvl4 as rewarding as deep 0.0 ratting? High sec veldspar mining as rewarding as low sec/non large scale 0.0 mining? Keeping pirates out of high sec? Unjustified nerf of 0.0 warfare? Safer high sec mission running? Why going for 0.0 ratting when I have BS spawns in low sec which is completely safe?
What don't you understand about that? Those are the latest changes to the game, read up patch notes to get a hint where the game is going.
I am not going to explain everything to you as if you were noob because if you are noob it makes no difference to you. If you are an experienced player, you dont need explanation.
LOL ok guys relax. You're right. We got the thread off topic, I apologize to you
My real opinion of level 4 mission runners is this. The money they make is risk free and is alot for a single player. But the money a player can make in 0.0 running a corp properly is way more. add that to the excitement factor and th rewards for 0.0 are huge. It just requires more than a single player in a battleship.
You know what. I give up with you. You don't care to explain yourself ever. You won't explain how something is broken or game breaking you just say it is. Just saying it is not an argument.

If you would like to continue this in another thread please be my guest and start one explaining all your issues in detail as to why they are broken and ruining Eve. This is not for my benefit but the OP of this thread and for the benefit of those of us around here who may not know your stances.
Now please apologize to OP as I have for hijacking his thread.

No worries dude my threads always get thrown off topic but atleast their interesting lol.
I personally think Eves Risk v reward is a bit unbalanced in favor of reward.
What I don't get is how back in the day Eves balance was even worse totally tilting toward Risk.
Pirates had a field day with their major advantage over other players.
People are complaining that Eve is becoming more mainstream? i call that balance.
Sure as a straight up pirate things were great because everything was easier for them back then.
Things like warp to 0 and agility messed up those lame ass gate campers so now they come here and say Eve is a newbs game.
lol look at me pushing my thread even more off topic.
Eve Online has a massive internet add campaign going on. Tons of websites that I frequent have adds for Eve Online, places like Foxnews.com lol! Really weird to see Eve Online being advertised on some places, break.com has nothing to do with MMO's yet I always see adds there. I suspect this is why you are seeing all these new people in high sec space. This is good news though, it means Eve is going to keep growing, more revenue for CCP to keep building up Eve into the empire they have yet to invision. I just hope technology is kind to them so they can still maintain a single server shard, fingers crossed!
EVE is also now available in places like best buy. Yes, they pushing at the right time!
What I dont want is another 20-30k sitting in mission hubs in high sec for an eternity.
like i always say is not CCP fault that new player dont go to low sec or 0.0 the corps that live in low sec/0.0 fail to recruit them
/facepalm.....

Is it just where you are is over populated ? Maybe try moving to a different area of space. I never have problem finding quiet systems if I am looking for them.

I woudn't even go so far as to say that at all. It's the player himself that chooses if he wants to go or not. CCP and 0.0 corps recruiting them won't change a person mentality.
1) broken risk vs reward mechanics
2) security status hits changes
3) CONCORD response times
4) speed nerf
5) agility
6) w-holes, the most secure and most rewarding area
7) missiles changes
8) BS in low sec
etc., etc. it goes on and on... EVE is now safer and most rewarding as never before.
EDIT:
9) factional warfare
10) gang aggression flagging

-----Zero Punctuation Eve Online Review-----
Gool ol' Boys?
1) risk vs reward
examples
veldspar high sec mining
missions - high sec level 4

"Can't have a PvP game with such a huge penalty for dying, will make people avoid PvP."
Oh yeah, I avoid PvP in low sec every chance I get.... Oh, wait.... Did you say "avoid"?
LOL ok guys relax.

Risk Vs Reward

How many ships do you think get blown up every day in PvP in EVE?
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
like i always say is not CCP fault that new player dont go to low sec or 0.0 the corps that live in low sec/0.0 fail to recruit them
/facepalm.....

About 6.5k ships get blown up daily. Now, how many players(characters) can log on in the time period, +150k?
