Jackdog, are you reading the correct websites here??? I have som old xfire figures for both AoC and War from Jan 4. These are hours played on a Sunday. In the mean time both AoC and WAR have had some campagnis to increase their figures so i beleive they are comparable. (you are comparing them in your posts so i guess you are fine with that)
04-Jan . 03 May
AoC 4819 9527 WAR 19757 13577
He no longer needs to go by Xfire numbers. The last known figure for AoC subs was slipped out as around 100k, right? EA just released their latest financial report that states WAR currently still has around 300k subscribers. Obviously one game is still much more healthy than the other.
The 300k number in the financial report isn't just paid subscribers.
It's paid subscribers + registered trial accounts over the course of period + new box registrations that never got past the first month.
You won't hear me saying that WAR is doing worse then AoC atm. But they aren't doing that much better either.
But it's funny that you trolls kept showing off the XFire numbers all the time as pure Facts about the sorry state of AoC, till someone here posts recent XFire numbers that show that WAR and AoC aren't so far apart anymore... then all the sudden it's numbers doesn't matter anymore. Because they show a recoup for AoC and an everdeclining numbers for WAR.
Lol. Just lol.
Actually I never cared for Xfire numbers, I just pointed out there was no need for them. AoCs number total is around 100k, right? WAR is at least double that than and if there are that many trial accounts plus people buying the actual box to make another 100k, to put them at a total of 300k, I would say that game is MUCH more healthy than AoC. I bought, subscribed, played both of those games for a few months and recently quit both in the same month and it just seems to be WAR was a better overall game, and it is obvious it has a higher population. I am neither a hater or supported or either game, I just wanted to point out WAR is doing better on the market than Conan as some of their arguments in this thread were just laughable.
You are wrong about the healthy part.
If you are on a somewhat lower populated server in Age of Conan, you can at least still fully enjoy the game in all it's aspects.
In WAR if you are not at least on a Medium High populated server.... you are screwed.
WAR can have almost double the amount of paid subscribers then Age of Conan. Fact is that WAR has way too many servers, from wich most of them are low populated! Even still after the transfers end last year!
The average player doesn't give a damn about total number of subsribers. They care about server population and their ingame experience.
At this moment I have more fun and a far better experience in Age of Conan, then I had in WAR the moment I gave up on it half january this year.
That is the problem with WAR and one of it's major design flaws! It's damn way too population dependend!
And rerolling to a High-High server like Karak Eight Peaks (EU) or Phoenix Throne (US) is no point, because the high pop servers suffer from severe lag, combat delays and disconnect issues.
So the only choice you have is rolling one of the handful Medium pop servers and hope for the best. lol.
Good luck. As I was one of those Medium pop servers and we still lagged and disconnected all the time during RvR fights.
Don't suppose the timing of the XFire contests and free trials could play into could it do you, or is it that AoC is losing 39% of it's players in the last month? Amazing isn't it? I wonder if WAR could have been staring free trials and just finished with a XFire contest in early January hmmmmmmmm?
These threads and posts don't really matter anyway. Just on these forums alone the fanboys have made at least 100K posts trying to spin numbers and the news into something positive, FC has merged servers, gave free trials and is now redesigning the core systems and the game is still bleeding subs. The 1st quarter report will be interesting.
or you can go with these numbers Sunday April 12 Sunday May 03 AoC 15470 9527 - 39% WAR 16002 13577 -16% LoTRO 15606 16190 +4%

If you are going to look at xfire numbers you can also mention that AoC is in pos.28 now, a couple of months ago they were around pos.40-45.
In addition xfire don't work with the AoC DX10 client, so people using DX10 are not registered...

Jackdog, dont be silly. Your post are usually a lot more reasonable than this above. You know as well as I that on Jan 4th neither AoC or WAR had any campagnis. You also know that both WAR and AOC have held campagins since then. Just look at the traffic on alexa and compare their sites. Sunday april 12th was at the peak of AoC marketing campagin and its therefore natural that its fallen a lot since then.
Now what can we say about these two games. Are they doing well? No they are most certanly not doing weill neither of them. Is WAR doing better than AoC, yes absolutley. They have more subs, more fans and more traffic.
Is WAR declining, yes there is a stedy decline. The game is in trouble.
Is AoC growing. Maybe not, but its certanly not declining. The turnaround work done by Craig Morrison has had an effect.
WAR was released later than AoC and therefore AoC has had more time to turn the game around. WAR may still accheive the same effect as AoC has.

I think you should phrase your complaints a little better. "You" had severe lag, "you" had combat delays and disconnect issues. Not everyone has these problems.
I play with about 12 of my real life friends. I have been playing since beta and since the game was released I think I have CTD a total of 2 times, and neither time was during RvR. Only one of our guild members has any issues with stuttering, low fps, and disconnects (a few times a week) but he's running a 5 year old system.
I'm also not sure what these combat delays are you're talking about? If you mean the combat lag that plagued the game at released... well that was fixed about a month after the game was released.
Oh.. and I've played exclusively on Phoenix Throne since release.
While I'm sure you had these issues, not everyone does. Stating your own personal experiences as if everyone has the same issues is innacurate.

Jackdog, dont be silly. Your post are usually a lot more reasonable than this above. You know as well as I that on Jan 4th neither AoC or WAR had any campagnis. I was pointing out the silliness of trying tio use Xfire numbers when both companies have been having Xfire promoions and free trials. AoC jumped from the low 40's to the high teens when they had thier promotion earlier this month and once it was over has been slipping backwards ever since, exactly what happened to WAR. Only difference was WAR was in mid teens during thier contest and have slipped back to the high teens AND low 20's over the course of several months WHILE AoC went from high teens back to the high 20's and i sflirting with 30's in just a couple of weeks. Is AoC growing. Maybe not, but its certanly not declining. The turnaround work done by Craig Morrison has had an effect. I don't think WAR is in near as much trouble as AoC. With 1.05 the core game design for AoC is changing from skill based to equip[ment based. I have not seen Mythic get to a point where they are in so much trouble they have had to do that, let alone merge their servers. WAR was released later than AoC and therefore AoC has had more time to turn the game around. WAR may still accheive the same effect as AoC has. Turn around? all I see is it is not bleeding subs quite as fast as it was. Game is still losing money as we will see next week. Big difference is FC is a small publicy held one trick pony company. EA has more money to pour into WAR and quite frankly double if not triple AoC's population.
Yeah i was impressed also by the trial . Now i have 10 day left to my subscription and i notice that i don't log anymore.Already all that *Omph* is already gone.Exactly like it did 1 years ago.I was amazed and 10 day before my subscription finish , i simply cancelled my account.
I'm simply waiting for mortal online.I just can't play anymore any theme park MMO . It's simply boring , boring and boring. The community in aoc's also quite bleh . It's feel like a single player game. Everyone do their own crap(questing and ganking) and no one give a hell about others. The global it's just a big whiney fest and a big guild spam invite.
PVP'ing? If you want to pvp at 80 just sit in Kheshatta . If you want to PVp while leveling just gank everything that talk to a vendor or quest .*Hyboria it's a brutal world* . Say The guy rhat will never ever Roleplay . What a pitiful excuse. We live also in a brutal world . But law exist.
PVE and FFA PVP just don't mix together. No one want to pvp 24/24.Some ppl want to level to exprience their toon at 80 with all their abilities. If i wanted to kill kill kill only. I simply gonna play counter-strike.The PVE server also it's not my cup of tea. It's just a big mob steal quest.yesterday i cleaned a path to a boss for a quest in a pve server.Than suddently 2-3 went and killed the quest boss. They /laughed and *ran* away .. It's always the same crap.I just can't play anymore stupid theme park mmo .Everyone seem to *rush* . Because all ppl care it's getting the most level the quicker possible.
Theme park mmorpg suck ass. Please please MO release already.
a theme park MMORPG with FFA PVP simply don't work.

War merged some servers before AoC.... mind you they do it a bit at a time such that it's more dynamic server admin (at the beginning they added servers then, after population cooled, reduced them) than the "Event" that was AoC. But they still do drop the server count every month or so as they merge and merge....
I do find it somehow odd that AoC is punished severely for merges yet people don't realize the same thing is happening in WAR
I think most of the bashing of Funcom for server merges was that it took too long, not the fact they merged them. I still followed the game after I cancelled hoping things would improve, and I seem to remember players calling for mergers back in September.
Mythic definitely dropped the ball by having way too many servers at launch. They NEVER should have had that many. First time I logged into WAR I was looking at the server list and thought "no way all these servers can be anywhere near full, even if they have a million subs".

I was going to come up with a snappy answer, but I'd rather play AoC.
To OP: Bashing a game you don't know is just silly, but I guess you know that now.
Still, it takes guts to admit being wrong. Lots'a hard-core AoC-bashers that still haven't gotten over the buggy launch, a year ago.
Well, gotta go, cya in Hyboria:)
