Advice for new players....

2 majorly important to do's: 1) Read through all the quests... 2 )Hit at least level 15 and you will have seen some cool zones.  The lore will suck you in... IF you pay attention.  The high house npc drama is charming. Don't let Hawksmouth or the kill x number of mobs get you down becuase the high house quest chains are very involved and charming.  This game has a ton of potential...  and it would be a shame if people left the game because of a low respawn rate of boars in the first zone.    Anyways.... give the game 15-20 levels.... you may be surprised how much you love it.

I absolutely agree. I was initially dismayed by the kill boar quests... but ten levels later and my excitement continues to grow. This game is a real surprise hit.

    MORE ADVICE!

Graphics suck! Leave the game now. The graphics are great. If you can do better, make your own 'better' game.

Disable in-game sound hardware acceleration if you experience choppiness. (solves most is-that-lag? problems)

Do not play the game if you want to powerlevel. The quests will not always point you where to go and what to do. Most of the quests I have encountered require a brain to complete. IT'S THE JOURNEY NOT THE DESTINATION!

Questing VS Grinding? Quest and enjoy the storyline and the SCENERY!

    Be creative. Commoners wear hoods.

There's this thing called Personal Experience Point(PEP). 5 ranks will make your life easier and then again it will make your game life less exciting. Why? Most players I've encountered are obsessed with PEP and end up avoiding challenging encounters. PEP rewards smart players, not grinders.

If you don't move, you'll die. Mobs will expose your defenses, cripple you, and instagib your sandwich combat ass if you stand in one place.

Guerrila Tactics! Hit and Run! Elite type mobs are nothing if you stay away from their attacks. 15 levels higher? Dance like a butterfly and sting like bee!

Kite mobs or they'll kite you.

    PVP! Red is dead!

    MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE!

Be patient. The game is young. The community is impatient.

Not enough content? NEW GAME. Content will come from the developers and the COMMUNITY.

"Kite mobs or they'll kite you."  More like, kite mobs and they run back to their spawn spot and insta heal to full.

But yes, do correctly place a line of ranged attacks into your skill deck.

    More advice:

    • Use the mouse wheel to select an ability and click to activate.
    • You can hold the mouse down and it will automatically use the next ability in the tumbler when its ready.
    • Watch your enemies and back away when they are going to attack.
    • Don't be afraid to run if a fight isn't going well. Dying in Spellborn is worse than most games because you lose a PeP level.

I am always surprised at how often people quit the game in frustration without even knowing how to play.
