The class for me

I played the game at the very begining and am now giving it another go but i have a question? Which class should i play i kind of want to try a pvp server but am not bound to it if the populations low but I really liked assassins and rangers at last time but i don't want to be so weak id like to just keep fighting with little down time even if the fights take a little bit longer but at the same time i don't want do like no damage

 

like i said i really liked the ranger and the assassin but i just want to know if they can dish it out and take it right now
