Never tried it and now, when all hope is lost and there are no good MMOs I want to try it. Are there any good, populated shards or something for Ultima?
No good MMO's yeah I know the feeling. I was about to give up on MMO's for good myself. I recently subbed back to this game and am amazed. you might want to check out what people are saying these days.
There are plenty of shards with plenty of people, and a couple of shards that have some very high activity. Plus, you can also try Siege Perilous which is true FFA PVP with full item loot (one item can be blessed, but everything else drops on death). UO still has a very healthy population.

Do you work for EA or something?
I was wondering the same thing. Most anytime I have gone back for a month or two over the past few years, I see pretty empty servers. Not saying they are totally dead...but you really hafta do some research into finding a decently populated server. And by decent...I mean something that may have 1/3 of the server population from pre-AoS.
Try a free server, theres tons out there FREE that has one land mass. Not 18000 expansions with 100 people playing on them. If you want to play UO you will get a better experience of what people where talking about on some of those shards.

Do you work for I-hate-everything-EA-does-because-I'm-butthurt-from-some-change-that-happened-years-ago-and-can't-get-over-it or something?
Some of these posts are just ridiculous. I'm a relatively new player (been playing for about a year) to the game and I can tell you with all honesty that at least the Atlantic shard is nowhere near "dead". You guys act like anyone praising the game is just in "denial" and then you instantly label them a fanboi even if what they're saying has merit to it.
To the OP - ignore the haters; most of them are just upset about some change that they can't accept *Wah I can't mercilessly gank people who want nothing to do with pvp anymore, wah, cry, rant,*. Of course, I realize that I'm just generalizing and that I don't know the exact reason that these people feel the need to shoot down every new player post, but that's not the point. The point is, to many of us, the game is still the best there is, and that's what it will likely remain.
It's the most open-ended mmo to date, giving you almost limitless options of things to do. Sure, it's got it's problems just like any game, but I'd say the pros of the game itself outweigh the cons. I will say that you should try downloading both the new KR client AND the 2D client to see which you like better. The KR client is nicer looking to some but it still has many technical issues. Luckily, they're pretty much redoing the whole thing for the Stygian Abyss expansion that's coming out later this year.
Overall, just try the free trial out, join an active shard such as Atlantic or possibly Great Lakes, and definitely see about joining a friendly guild - it makes a huge difference. Only you can decide if the game is right for you.

Been back for a month and new players are joining every day and everyone I have talked to are in agreement. Very surprised ....
I think I have found my new home anyways for awhile.
Check it out!
